Shit I wish I knew about this earlier... Already begun a new raid 5 array over night.
I don't think I'd trust RAID5 on drives over 2TB these days, simply due to those rebuild times. Rebuilding my RAID10 takes like 30 hours for my four 4TB drives, but it's a lot less demanding, it's just sequential stuff.
Hey CIPWTTKT Think it's been 2+ years since I've posted so probably no-one remembers me, but I'm pretty sure BRT was having RAID issues when I left too.
At least you'll have ddr4 memory for skylake :v:
You take that back!!! [sp]zen isn't going to suck ok[/sp]
Hey CIPWTTKT Think it's been 2+ years since I've posted so probably no-one remembers me, but I'm pretty sure BRT was having RAID issues when I left too.
I had ST3000DM001's then. Now I got some proper NAS drives and in 13 months not even a blip. Though when I cleared my CMOS it undid my RAID before :v:
I hope Zen doesn't suck but the last five years of AMD processors don't exactly inspire confidence.

I decided to refund my GTX1080. It's been stuck in Limbo at Synnex for the past month, and promise dates changed from end of June, to America day, to the 14th, and now there are 3000 ordered and order #50 is not going to be processed til the middle of August. :(
I hope Zen doesn't suck but the last five years of AMD processors don't exactly inspire confidence.
With how shitty they've been in comparison, Zen honestly only can be better than last few generations. [editline]20th July 2016[/editline] Question is, if it's enough of a improvement to make a impact.
If zen is merely a 8core haswell IPC, I'd get one. But it's been hyped for years, which is why I sold the server to buy a 6900k. Tired of waiting for someone to make an alternative to Intel's high end. But then again even if it were haswell type efficiency, the thing might be super hot.
Isn't it being super hot basically a given with AMD CPUs since they don't have the R&D budget?
Like I don't specifically blame them, I know they don't have the resources.
Isn't it being super hot basically a given with AMD CPUs since they don't have the R&D budget?
I'm personally not so miffed about that, unless it's Pentium 4 Prescott bad.
I am thinking of returning my G13, I don't really use it that much but it was pretty useful for video editing. Mapping stuff to the way I want it to is pretty neat but there's always a learning curve on remembering what you mapped what button to, especially when the layout is different than on a regular keyboard. I don't use it to game because I end up second guessing the buttons even if I do map it to exactly the same as the keyboard. Like maybe I should spend more time to actually use it. On Chrome, I have some buttons set up to cut, copy and paste which is pretty useful. In Premiere Pro, it's playback, IN and OUT, insert and overwrite, and some other stuff I seem to use often. The joystick is super useful as I use it as the arrow keys so I don't even have to move my hand off the G13 unless I am actually typing stuff.
06 SAS MR LSI. And yeah that's what failed. Spat my entire array iut. All drives marked unconfig good. Next restart freezes on F/W initializing system halts before motherboard post screen.
RAID cards from the same brand tends to use the same metadata on the drives. If you buy any LSI raid card that's from the same era or newer, your array should be recognized immediately by the new card.
Isn't it being super hot basically a given with AMD CPUs since they don't have the R&D budget?
When anything less than 125W is an improvement, it's difficult to miss the mark
do a reset and check the dhcp server? that's what we do
I made a thread on them years ago. The issue is that even factory resetting them and trying to connect with their default IP addresses does nothing. My assumption is that a previous employer who used them last had flashed the firmware for use in his weird Linux driven camera server and it now either runs on an IP address so foreign I have no hope in finding it because nothing can see it or they're just really dead. Actually, one of the cameras hasn't blinked its LED's for over a month.
Not really a computer thing, but I just got a Betacam SP UVW-1800 VCR for $50. In working order, it makes a good time base corrector.
My TBC literally exploded.
mmm R710 is on the way
Mine should be shipping either later today or tomorrow :joy:

They're dead, Jim.
Here I am with my FX-8320 patiently waiting for Zen to hopefully not suck [editline]19th July 2016[/editline] Also it's gonna be the dreaded new cpu socket + new ram slot combo that requires upgrading three parts at once

I hope Zen doesn't suck but the last five years of AMD processors don't exactly inspire confidence.
We'll know next month.
We'll know next month.
Why won't you get on Steam?
Why won't you get on Steam?
I'VE BEEN BUSY. I'm sorry :c
I'VE BEEN BUSY. I'm sorry :c
Sexin up SirCrest with your magical subwoofer suit I bet.
I'VE BEEN BUSY. I'm sorry :c
Gamma and I are getting tired of you being so busy. Even Kira and Ola are starting to complain that you're never around.
I take my university work very seriously. [t]https://helifreak.duckdns.org/image/20160720025500952.png[/t] Needed three copyright product category images, Google Images always helpful. [t]https://helifreak.duckdns.org/image/20160720033536719.png[/t] I considered a solid blue images for blues but that's not inspired enough.
Gamma and I are getting tired of you being so busy. Even Kira and Ola are starting to complain that you're never around.
You're a strange one, pentium...
you're all strange
I'm not sure who the strangest is though
I'm not sure who the strangest is though
Pretty sure it's Kiwi. [editline]20th July 2016[/editline] Here is a graph I found. As you can see it uses advanced mathematical proofs. [t]https://helifreak.duckdns.org/image/yes.png[/t]
