At least with comcast you have to call or go online to activate any purchased hardware and to do that you need the account number and billing phone number, etc, etc. So it's not a hardware issue, but if you don't directly pay the bill you can't change much.
IT TURNS OUT THAT HDMI -> DISPLAYPORT ADAPTERS DONT WORK BUT THEY STILL SELL THEM ANYWAY

You probably bought a dp to hdmi one.
Power Mac G5s (dual 2Ghz) are heavy.

This is huge. Like, megafucking huge. Hueg Huge. Hueger than the xbox hueg.
Major govt contractors use teamviewer. Several banks that I know of use teamviewer.
It's weird, I saw a ton of posts on this two weeks ago around /r/sysadmin, but it's only blowing up now, was there a second attack or are news outlets only just touching it

a couple of employees at work has it :worried:
Got around to cleaning my mouse since the scroll wheel was getting too stiff and it appears that fixed the double click issue too. Date codes put the boards as end of 2008 (42nd and 46th week), fucker just won't die. Feet are just about non existent and the sensor mount has worn down about a millimetre and a half.
I was not prepared for the horrors that lurked within though.
Is this active vs passive adapters?
[editline]2nd June 2016[/editline]
Can a passive adapter like that even work? HDMI is 19 pins, DP is 20
Pin count has nothing to do with it, signalling does.
Dual-mode DisplayPort can detect a passive adapter being inserted, and switch to outputting HDMI.

I don't think I was effected, but time to stop using Teamviewer regardless
The more I look at Django, the more I realize how much I love Python, and how much I wish everyone involved with HTML and CSS, was dead.
Edit: I had to include jQuery to get a fucking dropdown menu to work

I moved to Chrome Remote Desktop. Looks good enough for what I used TV for. Haven't tried it out yet but hopefully it has most of the same features.

Even if this isn't a Teamviewer data breach and is a result of compromised passwords from other sites (it probably is) the fact that they never shut down their service or even bothered to de-authorize all sessions and force password resets is a fucking joke

Hackers getting physical access to a desktop is not something to poo poo at, and I really don't appreciate their laissez faire attitude about the whole thing so far

Python for a lot of web stuff is great.
I set up a basic API with Tornado Web Server which is just as simple as writing a handler with functions for your desired HTTP verbs and telling the application to use certain handlers when a route is hit. It's not always that simple with other web frameworks.

More than a few people have apparently had either thousands of dollars in purchases charged to their paypal accounts, and some have had keyloggers installed without their knowledge leading to compromising even more accounts. I'm glad I have the free version so I know whenever TV has been used. Apparently TV is blaming the users for this.
What a shitty company.
Kinda glad I use an ancient as hell Teamviewer Version, and only have it running when it's needed, and didn't enable unattended access.

Hey, a bit but, have you managed to restore article text after you uBlock the popup? I've tried to do the same you did today, but the article text seems gone (I suspect it's because of their inline adblock.min.js)
Well, deciding to go the extreme route with my server and reinstall Server 2012. Been having all sorts of issues with Windows Update and both sfc /scannow and Dism aren't working.
feelsgoodman, got a new battery for my server ups, now i'm almost safe from lightning again until i can get myself to restart it
should get a new ups for my regular pc & nas while i'm at it actually
Yeah I need to update my home UPS, it was bought in 2004 and surprisingly the battery still holds a ~15 minute charge for my computer. Can't help but think one of these days one of the battery cells will just piss acid everywhere though.
So with this new modem install, the router is now in one corner of the house instead of towards the middle. So lots of devices are having weaker signals on G and N, the other thing is a networked printer was the only wired device we ever had. So I thought, well I could just get a decent Wifi Bridge and hook the other PC and printer into it.
But why is it difficult to find one on amazon. So many of those AC-Adapter Boosters flooding the search terms

A decent router supporting Open-WRT can do the same thing.
Set-up is s tiny bit complicated though.
We bought a $30 "wifi range booster" off Aliexpress which was really just a cheap router and an A4 page explaining how to use wireless bridge mode (Step 1 being how to change the language from chinese)
I used it as a wireless receiver for ages until it sorta just crapped out

In the past I've assumed I can do bridge on certain devices and wasted money, so I'm trying to be careful to buy the right product.
I want like a box with good antenna with 2-4 ports. With atleast 50mbps from that range.
Something like this maybe: http://www.amazon.com/Edimax-CV-7428nS-Wireless-Universal-Consoles/dp/B00BZQLBG0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1464966938&sr=8-1&keywords=Wifi+Bridge
But I want to buy a better brand.
Edit: Maybe I'll get this: http://www.amazon.com/TP-LINK-TL-WA801ND-Wireless-300Mbps-Repeater/dp/B004UBU8IE/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1464966938&sr=8-5&keywords=Wifi+Bridge and like a simple 5 port switch and stick em together.

Are you for real? You can lift that thing with three fingers!

It even had handles.
Amount of finger correlates weight, everyone knows that!

Fun fact: a singular finger has almost the same lifting power as all fingers on one hand, that's because it's your hand doing the lifting, not your fingers. I mean when lifting actual stuff, not flexing your fingers
I tried one finger and almost broke it. :v:
Cheese grater Macs are not something to fuck around with. In fact, neither is the iMac G5. One of those flipped over and dropped on my fingers so hard it bruised bone a couple years ago.
