Now I just need to get one of those Supermicro 846 chassis and get a bunch of those.
Was looking on ebay for "lot of harddrives" and found so many decent deals, but also many like "lot of 20 ST3000DM001" And you have to scroll to the bottom to see they're all dead. Bunch of sneaky fuckers. But for the deals where they mention them working, really can't wait to have some sort of big box to throw them all in. I don't know why I find this stuff so addicting. Edit: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lot-of-50-80GB-SATA-3-5-Desktop-HDD-hard-drive-Discounted-Price-/222192361035?hash=item33bbb25e4b:g:PMsAAOxyB0VRxFsA lol, I wanna raid a bunch of these old geezers
I feel like people who buy it can just do a paypal dispute and win it.

Okay I'm about to go crazy. Googling "Windows 10 restarts to update but doesn't fucking do shit other than restarting" doesn't help. I feel like I'm being held hostage by Windows, and it wants to restart at LEAST every 5 hours, all to accomplish nothing. God damnit. What the fuck do I do?

Change your update settings.
Not gonna lie, HP's website is pretty bad.
Their FTP server is also... kind of amazing. It's enormous. In the sense that there's shit on there that no one really knows about, not even HP(E). For example, full ISOs and disk images for OpenVMS for both Alpha and IA64. Including entire software suites. That shit aint supposed to be public.
Looks like I got approved for my bank's credit card. Cool. They never told me or emailed me, or called me. I just logged into my bank to check some payments and saw this.
Change your update settings.
BUT HOW
I tried to install Arch Linux as a dual boot on my desktop PC. [t]http://i.imgur.com/OPKaMq8.jpg[/t] Now I have fucked up. Seems what happened was I mistaken Windows' system reserved partition for the EFI partition and overwrote it for GRUB, when an EFI partition did not even exist because I was stupid enough to not realize my SSD was MBR as opposed to GPT. I should be able to reinstall the bootloader for Windows and everything should be fine, at least that is what I will try to do once I get back home. Why in the world is my SSD MBR instead of GPT despite my motherboard having UEFI anyways? Did I not consider that during Windows installation or something?
Got in the SSD I ordered on amazon prime day. The first time trying to copy everything over ended up with a BSOD because it couldn't load the OS. This came up on my Facebook "memories" thing. I'd just like to remind everyone (especially wingbutt) that this happened.

And fuck you for this too.
I'm using my old HP tower to run a few simple servers from home, and every so often the entire machine would get assfucked (and sometimes forcefully rebooted without my permission) by their stupid health management software that I had uninstalled every fucking piece of yet it still ran anyways, and continued to do this shit until I found the EXE by hand (going to file location from task manager didn't work) and nuked it from orbit. One can say I'm an idiot for not reformatting it completely clean from bloatware beforehand, but I actually considered it and looked into the steps involved, and couldn't find about half the drivers for the fucking thing anywhere on the internet because the machine is supposedly old enough to have a bunch of discontinued shit with the most obscure hardware on the planet, so I deemed it pointless. I hate HP, too.
So I was going to put the server money towards the new parts but I remembered now that I'm mainly on selfemployment income, I have to pay quarterly taxes. So that will be fun. Will need to apply the sale to taxes to get myself up to speed.

If you booted the install disk using legacy mode, you will only get the MBR install. You need to boot into UEFI mode on the installer to get the UEFI installer. Its a very easy detail to miss. Some motherboards default to legacy mode even with UEFI enabled.
Not gonna lie, HP's website is pretty bad.
This one time I was reinstalling stuff on an HP Windows tablet, and they hid the actual driver downloads with display: none I don't even know for what purpose. [editline]21st July 2016[/editline] Speaking of HP, I like how this laptop and dock combo is 11% off on the HP Canada Store, but it doesn't have the advertised coupon code that is listed on every other business laptop on the catalog. So I decided to add the coupon code and boom, 5% off in addition to the 11% off. I remember I was able to call them and get $50 off because I was a "student" assuming I did the sale through the phone. Not sure if they would allow the coupon code I used tho. Also with the dock it seems pretty worth it since without it, you only save $50 off, when the dock itself (in Canada) is listed for $325. It's $219USD on HP USA Store and if you wanted to save some more, go get it from B&H for $100USD. And I'm pretty sure the warranty is country specific which is kinda annoying.
Couple questions, can't find your original post. What SSD did you get? What software are you using? What BIOS settings?
It's a SanDisk 960GB that I got on sale on Amazon Prime Day. I tried using EaseUS Partition Master and ToDo Backup to clone the HDD onto the SSD, but neither case worked, even after trying all of the command line tricks to fix the boot. There's like 8 or 9 different partitions on the HDD. It's a 2012 Sony Vaio with an i7-3632QM, 8GB of ram, and an ATI somethingorother laptop gpu. Since I built my gaming rig, I mostly use it for a netbook nowadays. In fact, after a few weeks, I might swap out this 1TB for the 128GB SSD that I'm not using instead and put this 1TB in my gaming rig with the other 1TB and 500GB SSDs. I just went ahead and did a clean W10 install on it, and I'm going to copy everything that's on the old HDD to a backup drive that I have before it fails completely.
I don't know if I can hold this job up. Like, the job itself is fine but it's the way I'm suppost to be productive in front of the computer. I'm currently shadowing the guy who does it now but he's about to change jobs in a week and a half which means one Monday morning I'm gonna come in and I'll be solo. Normally that's not anything to sweat about but he has OCD and as such he's streamlined the FUCK of all the shit I'm eventually gonna do. Certain spreadsheets and programs are pinned to the taskbar, there's at least one screenshot showing where everything is should stuff unpin, mountains of cross-program work is being done in hotkey macros only he knows how they work, there's a million different files that you need to refer to and update regularly. Outlook is fine tuned to him specifically and there's a bunch of weird combinations I've never heard of or used before. Now the thing is I have OCD too, however I want to do shit my way but he literally won't let you do that, so this is quickly becoming a game of "who is gonna blow a gasket first because they can't get shit done their way?" Why can't I be working in the lab? All they have to mess with is opening and completing work orders. :suicide:

Updated to win10, so far so good. updated intel vga driver, reboot PROCESS1 bsod on boot :pudge: I expected something like this because similar things happened when updating to 8.1

Should I keep Optimus off in bios after switching to 10? It says that it only works with 7 but that might just be horsehockey.
I'm updating tomorrow. Should I keep Optimus off in bios after switching to 10? [editline]21st July 2016[/editline] Apparently upgrading from a Nvidia 6150 SE to a HD 6450 was a good decision because as a whole the this PC runs a lot quicker and more responsive. I really just wanted to add DVI and HDMI ports, but hey I can't complain about that. :v:

It's definitely bullhockey that it only works in 7 considering how my laptop uses Optimus and was designed for Windows 8.

Spoken like someone who is terrible with money.
Yea it honestly sounded like it was him trying to excuse his bad habits.
