Best way to have money is to not spend it. That's like... Money 101.
Who gives a fuck, Terry is cool as fuck.
Best way to have money is to not spend it. That's like... Money 101.
i have gotten to the point where i don't spend money anymore because i don't have anything more to buy
got the vive last month just on a whim, didn't even make a dent, and it's payday in a few days and i have almost everything from last month's paycheck too, it just keeps piling up
the perception of money gets really distorted once you get a proper job
I used to be super frugal and stuff back when I was in school. During the last semester, at some point, I realized that there is no point in having money unless you make use of it. So lately I've been going out more, doing stuff with friends at arcades and amusement parks. My spending per month probably increased in the first half of 2016 but meh. I'm having more fun than I ever did, I'm traveling more than I ever did. At some point, it's going to have to stop but until then, I'm going to enjoy it.
I'm also doing what my friend suggested: after finishing school, don't run into a job right away. Give yourself a break.
He took a 1 year break after school before starting to find work. He's doing fine now besides the student debt that he's slowly paying. I know I have my student debt to pay but that isn't for a while. He's still enjoying life and doing things at his own pace.
I'm still doing a lot of freelance work on the side, despite being technically "unemployed", with more to come later this year. Although I'm still applying to jobs anyways.

idk it seems like a bad thing to have on a cv when youre gonna look for work, but if youre doing freelance stuff i guess you can put that in

He has a decent paying job now, although it's a bit boring according to him (basically he copy and pastes things for a bank), but he said that it allowed him to enjoy his life a bit better. I guess he was able to afford taking a one year break after school, then find work. He really enjoyed the freedom to do whatever, and to basically go to whatever thing he wanted to. That's probably the best part of not having a restrictive job like he goes now. He misses staying up late and doing things in the night time of weekdays, among other things.
I can do the same with the freelance work on the side. Also freelance just means that I work for different people and different companies. My hours are whatever I want them to be, as long as I deliver stuff on time. It's actually decent and the pay varies but is good enough that I accept it.
I had a meeting with a production company who does weddings and they wanted to expand their company and hire me to shoot and edit stuff for their wedding gigs, then if I impress them enough, I'll get onto the corporate videos that they are doing.
Earlier this year, I joined a start up production studio (which is being run by a friend) that helps indie film makers make short films and such. I have experience with production management from school and wanted to help the start up work. I was production crew for some of his previous short films and his YouTube channel has a decent amount of subscribers (more than 10k).
Is there a way to filter out items on ebay I already added to a wishlist/custom list?
So I was working on my aunt's computer (a circa 2005 eMachines desktop) and figured I'd check the specs with dxdiag
Under Processor, I shit you not, it simply said "N/A"

Surprisingly good, for 4.11€
Also I ordered more Xiaomi shit last night. I need more Chinese shit in my life.
I don't know if I want to risk with buying a Xiaomi powerbank from ebay (cuz free shipping) or buy locally and pay a lot more.
I'd like the 16Ah one, because my oneplus already has a 3.1Ah battery, making a smaller power bank almost pointless.

Banggood hasn't tried to screw with me so far, the Xiaomi Piston 3 I got was legit.
Went to the Apple Intern Open House. Hope something comes of it, but I felt awfully underqualified and under-prepared :v:

Hey, they have low monthly payments of just $19,000.00 a month! And $32,500.00 in rewards!
I paid $15 for my Tech Inc power bank.
4400mAh from China.
It's good shit.
Xiaomi also make really good stuff even their phones are nice.
Not too sure about their take on Android though but the handset themselves are nice.
I got one from a random eBay seller from China which was around $25 usd. Just don't get the absolute cheapest option because it would feel like you'd get a higher chance of getting a knock off. And there's ways to find out if you got a knock off or not. The best way is to actually open it up and look at the internals. Xiaomi has guides out there (that I got after emailing them) on how to check if it's legit.
I got my 10400mAh one over 2 years ago and it's been working great. It's legit and everything. If only I got it for $12 or something.
So Windows 7 disk checking killed my Windows 10 installation. Thanks nostalgia, I remembered why I hated you.
Even Windows 7 hates Windows 10
I'll try reverting my laptop to Win8.1...
Now I traveled back to 2006's tech with my ascended Arch linux server.
How the fuck do I even set up drivers for this old Radeon X1600

Any recommendations for a per-program bandwidth limiter that actually fucking works? Ran out of my trial for netlimiter and I'm not going to pay 30 bucks to limit one program.

How about netl... oh. Are there even any others? I've been using since like 2010.
I mean I find myself wanting to cap bandwidth a lot so I might do it anyways, but I'm waiting on like 5 payments so my bank is light right now.
Arq5 doesn't have a working banwidth limiter even after the fix from the dev, so I wanted to cap it as a workaround to keep doing my remote editing work. Had to upload lots of stuff, and I wasn't about to stop the backup because it takes now like 36 hours to scan to where I am now, 2TB in.
Apparently the dev is aware of the slow scans and is working on it. 15MB/s isn't fun when you got so much data. if I had a low power machine, AKA my fileserverplans, I could leave it running and just disconnect the server if I need to pause it. Arq5 picks back up just fine if you lose internet. So i wish there was a pause function vs full-stop.
I'm late to the recent OS war here, but my previous post still applies after two weeks ago Windows 10 decided to fuck my bootloader again for no good reason and the sound driver. I'm dreading needing to use my laptop and having to fix it again. BTW it was a fresh install.
Meanwhile my Win 7 desktop is still completely stable after two years even with upgrades to a 970 and a 4790k. If I start caring about dx12, I guess I'll add a 10 partition, but otherwise I'm completely happy to stay here where social integration is out of my Windows and my Windows doesn't overnight decide to fuck up my mbr or decide I need a new sound driver. Ideally I'd use Debian for everything, but Windows is required for running the least shitty version of Valve games and running foobar2k with milkdrop without framedrops or audio skipping.
I'm keeping this desktop on Windows 7 with my Linux dualboot as long as possible due to just consistently getting dicked on when trying to use my laptop with 10.
A month after I had installed debian and windows 10, it thought it was a good time for chkdsk on one boot up. I didn't see the cancel in 10 seconds and it not only chkdsked, but totally fucked my bootloader and it took a good 5 hours shooting in the dark to get it all back.
One Windows update it decided SmartFTP wasn't compatible with an update so it just "decided" on its own to uninstall it. Reinstall it and it works fine.
I physically fucked up my audio jack, but only the jack detection was actually broken(intermittent) so I thought I could easily get it to force playing out the audio jack. Nope, nowhere in realtek audio, or windows sound, or the registry for realtek audio. Uninstall realtek audio reboot, after a registry tweak for windows audio works, after a reboot it decided its the boss again and reinstalls realtek audio fucking up my fix. Repeat process, but set SYSTEM to DENY on the Realtek folder. Week later it takes fucking forever updating and then realtek audio is back. Meanwhile in debian I commented out one line in a config file and it has stayed fixed since.
Wanted to try out the new bash on Windows 10, so set updates to fast track, screws around for a few days, but finally installs. I try it out after unfucking realtek from my audio, it works ok I guess. Boot up computer a day later all usb drivers are shot after bios. Fumble around with motherboard and such drivers, nothing, broken driver says it was signed by M$ in 2006 and is reinstalled on every bootup Google the number on it, same number as the Windows build I'm on. 2006 my ass. Finally notice in the updates area that I can revert to the last, but they're still going to "update me when a new one is ready".
USB should NEVER break, I don't care I was on the fast track, internal builds should have caught it, and if you are going to fuck with the GODS of USB, it should at least be able to recognize that it screwed it self and provide an option or anything to undo. There's no reason for the computer not to know that USB was working fucking flawlessly for the 6 months before so it should undo the its UNACCEPTABLE behavior. But nope it did nothing on its own. I wouldn't be ranting so hard about it now if it realized its mistake and said "Fuck shit sorry I broke your usb I will undo IMMEDIATELY and here is a reasonable amount of store credit to compensate for our FUCKERY."
Also what is going on with the the location and style of settings. Why are there new and old pages that manipulate the same settings? Why are there only one settings for somethings? The flat ui for settings definitely feels harder to navigate and the structure of where I'll find certain options in not clear at all.
Why does the start search search the internet without searching the downloads folder by default. I downloaded putty, typed putty hit enter and proceeded to google search it.
The only reason I keep around windows is games. Yes I can play tf2 and cs 1.6 in linux, but they are more screwed there than in windows, due to linuxs complication with font, video drivers. Since nobody seems to focus on linux first, my user experience for those will continue to be better on windows as its all ports on linux with usually worse performance.
The beta version of your software that I specifically installed has a bug, can I have some store credit to compensate for me not knowing what a beta is? You do know the massive quantity of hardware there is and that Microsoft cannot possible test every build on every single motherboard and USB controller? I suppose you didn't report the bug to Microsoft either and just expect them to magically fix a problem they don't know exists?
Good work on the M$ meme, Tux would be proud.

There's plenty of people in this thread that have had consistent problems with windows 10 thinking it knows better than the user about drivers. Plenty of the blame lies on hardware manufacturers with their screwy versioning, but the fact that win 10 will override settings that the user specifically manually setup to fix a problem is inexcusable, and no amount of memes will change that.
Wikipedia is having problems. I think.

Lets see if we can push the envelope! :D
What do you think won't buttfuck the hardware limitations of this machine as much? Windows Vista or Windows 7?
