I'd love to wake up one day just to see everything outside changing colors

aw yis
accidentally unseated front panel connector cables after cleaning, the panic has been real
EDIT : I hope this isn't a shitpost by your standards. I've been a long time lurker of this thread but I never had anything worth contributing
Don't you hate when the new guys at work fuck all sorts of shit up, and everyone else is on PTO or conveniently not available so you get to put out the fires :tableflip:
That'll hopefully be me soon if this job in Seattle pulls through! (The new guy fucking shit up, that is)

As long as you actually test the shit before you submit the code to source, you should be fine... I normally wouldn't be so pissed off if they actually tested, because the shit is just that broken. You can't even start the application without error messages spewing out of the screen.
Not even that shit. That's just age related maintenance.
The classic I was basically the Macintosh SE FDHD with a case and motherboard refresh but it was hard limited to 10mb of ram and because it's an MC68000 it has no 24 or 32-bit modes. It might be great for system 6 but when Apple was trying to sell it most people were already starting to move to system 7.5.
The Classic II was basically the SE/30 with its arms and legs blown off. It was the slowest 68030 they could find, again with the ram limitation and you lost the PDS connector so you couldn't add something like ethernet or an accelerator.
Also they were ugly as shit.

The only thing remotely cool about them is the OS is so small it's in ROM. hold CMD OPTION X O while you turn the machine on and it boots almost instantly to System 6.
I'll still take one to turn it into a cool thing. :v:

Well fuck any job that requires me to code more than basic scripts anyways :v:
Fucking windows 10. Deletes some of the Classic Shell files so it won't run and then I can't update to the supported version because it needs the .msi package it nuked.

I've been considering converting to entirely-virtualized Windows, so I can just rm windows.img every time it pisses me off and start over
I'm starting to get sick of having to whip Windows 10 back into line every couple of months. I thought this was going to get better after RTM, but it doesn't seem to be.

With all these problems everyone's been having it makes me glad I stuck with 7
It has been pretty much exactly the same since I installed it in 2009

I always had to reinstall 7 at least once a year for the same problems. I'm not even doing anything weird with the component that winds up breaking down like 99% of the time, and yet here I am, having to reinstall Windows periodically and having needed to do so since Win98.
Though I agree with your sentiment of only wanting Windows in a virtual machine and nowhere else, I feel like you must be doing something wrong if what you say is really the case.
XP and 7 are pretty damn solid, they generally don't randomly fuck up if you don't mess with them.

If I'm doing something wrong, then whatever it is must be fundamental to the way I think computers work in the first place, because I've changed every habit short of things like "change the way you press keyboard buttons" over that stretch of time (and some of those habits, too), and the same still holds true.

Unfortunately Intel decided that my $350 4770k was not worthy of VT-d
Speaking of servers....Last weekend I went to a thrift shop and spotted a Dell rackserver. Good condition, new enough to have a Xeon sticker on it. The build date seemed to be 2011 if I read it right.
I thought about it, and maybe I should check if it's still there next weekend. I don't need a server, but if I can get it for a steal then I could sell it for more than I bought for...
Where the hell is this thrift shop?! I had no idea anyone had thrift shops like that in Denmark!
How do you sleep
By not leaving the computer on doing nothing? It's not exactly rocket science.
By not leaving the computer on doing nothing? It's not exactly rocket science.
You mean you don't fold constantly with those triple 980's whenever you're not using them? That's pretty selfish of you.
Where the hell is this thrift shop?! I had no idea anyone had thrift shops like that in Denmark!
I don't think I've ever seen a computer in a thrift shop.. Or not in a very long long time at least.
Thinking about purchasing a HP Spectre, I like everything about it, before I splash £1,050 on it, does anyone know of any other ultrabooks?
I'm going to be using it for mostly University work which includes programming and lots of Office stuff. And the odd few small games in Unity 5. Portability is a must.

You just want to buy the server before me, don't you? :v:
While you guys are complaining about OSes I finally got 10 and 7 to coexist in my PC without destroying each other :godzing:
Also, I just spent close to a fucking HOUR trying to get my computer connected to my TV.
Was the 580 designed by a retarded monkey or something? It seems like the HDMI and DP can't be used at the same time.
And now I can't even get my usual dual monitor set up to work, what the fuck is going on...
[editline]29th July 2016[/editline]
Okay, it works??
I've never seen anything like this. Also note that the grey background and taskbar is missing.

Obligatory "I just upgraded to windows 10 and it fucked something up" post
I just upgraded to windows 10 and it fucked up my sound. Fixed it by reinstalling RealTek audio drivers.
But still.
[editline]29th July 2016[/editline]
It probably has messed with other things, but I won't be certain until I run into the issues. Fingers crossed it was just the audio.
I updated to Win10 on launch and nothing broke ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Windows 10 updates have been the cause for so many calls at work lately. It will download the updates in the background, so people wonder why their 1.5 Mbps internet connection is even more mediocre than normal
Defer updates isn't there on home.

Open up your nvidia control panel. There's an option in it for adjusting for underscan and overscan crap. Try setting the tv to PC mode if it has it first.
