I'm more curious about Google Glass on people with actual glasses.
If I remember correctly, they were planning to release a model after the initial consumer version specifically tailored to fit on existing glasses frames.
Holy shit these are cool, Anyone know what the est. price will be when they are officially released?
why is the explorer edition $1500?
why is the explorer edition $1500?
High barrier of entry means the people who get it are the people will actually test it, write stuff for it, etc .
why is the explorer edition $1500?
It isn't fully in mass production yet and this version is (as far as i know) mostly aimed at developers who want to get their hands on it first.
Could they use this technology to make some sort of head mounted monitor you can use with your phone or some sort of small computer to do work while walking around? [editline]18th April 2013[/editline]
I want one.
Me too, but when the price is more reasonable.
So this will be able to connect to a phone?
So this will be able to connect to a phone?
I think you need a smartphone to do certain things with it.
I think you need a smartphone to do certain things with it.
Ah, I'm glad I didn't go with an iPhone then.
Pending invite from them, Will pick up ASAP when i get it considering i live in Yonkers (Right next to the city). No official in my city is going to talk to me when i wear them, heh
Ah, I'm glad I didn't go with an iPhone then.
they are planning an iOS control app, i think
I should hope so, it's a dick move to go "hey we're making this amazing product that no one else has created, now to use it to its full advantage, you need one of OUR phones". Yeah I know Apple technically does this a lot, but it's not something I expect from Google

Pebble is already having issues with this because the iOS bluetooth experience is drastically worse than Android's

I don't own a Pebble, though it sucks when I stream music to my car stereo.
My Nexus 4 supports that? Some apps don't, though.
It doesn't work with anything on my Galaxy Nexus running the latest CM, which is using the ASOP bluetooth stuff. AFAIK, they're still using AVRCP 1.0, which only allows you to send basic controls to the phone. What are you using your phone with?
it would be hilarious if this turned out to be shit. I hope it doesn't, but still.
who's the chick to your right and why is she looking at you so strangely?
She was my "Glass guide". Basically a person who gets you setup with your Glass and shows you all the ins and outs of it. I got there super early but they let me in early so most of the folks staffing came over and said hello and introduced themselves. They were all super friendly and awesome. It was a really nice event, totally worth going to the pickup event rather than getting it shipped. Here's a shot without the tinted lenses attached: [img_thumb]http://cl.ly/OYB8/IMG_20130425_224436.jpg[/img_thumb]

How long does the battery last? Can you watch movies on it? Does it have face detection?
I'm pretty sure it will have face detection at some point if it doesn't already now, it'd be very useful for something like this
I'm pretty sure it will have face detection at some point if it doesn't already now, it'd be very useful for something like this
Very useful for people like me who can't remember anyone's names
