I really see, how students need access to the CP or any admin rights /sarcasm.
To the admin-login: Probably a remote network reboot and autologin as admin.

This type of thing normally happens when a PC reboots and it does not connect correctly, instead of loading the network users profile it falls back onto the locally stored one.
Which you can guess happens to be Admininstrator on most systems.
This can happen on any network system which has user profiles, RM, Novell and many others.

Most of our monitors are 1280x1024, there are also some widescreen ones, but they ALL use 1024x768.
