Intel Sandy Bridge - Why you should wait one month for a new PC!
813 replies, posted
I heard the doorbell ring and thought it was my stuff coming.
I go upstairs and it's just my mother coming inside.
Arhghghggh.
I couldn't wait till tomorrow, I've started building with the bits that I've got already. I've also foolishly started managing the cables, guaranteed the motherboard will fail now I've done that :/
Looks pretty nice though in the haf-x, it's such a nice case to work with. Just has the little bits that not many companies care to think about :)
edit:
forgot to put the rear i/o plate on

hell its that frustrating to put them in anyways, unless they've gotten easier since 2007
My stuff isn't getting here till tomorrow, and it looks like I'll be in school all day unless they cancel it by morning.
:eng99:
wasn't your stuff supposed to arrive like a couple of days ago
Yeah it was supposed to get here Yesterday. (1/11)
[editline]12th January 2011[/editline]
The only thing that got here on time was my RAM.
I just couldn't get a picture till today.
Just be glad you can afford those parts at this time. :frown:
Should I go with the [url=http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157217]ASRock P67 Extreme4[/url], the [url=http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131682]ASUS P8P67 PRO[/url], or the [url=http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=13-130-553]MSI P67A-GD65[/url] for my motherboard?
(Agree=ASUS, Disagree=ASRock, Funny=MSI)
I'd go with the ASUS, they'll be rolling out a fix any time now and it's the best choice out of those.
This is just my opinion though, the MSi boards don't have UEFI IIRC, and I just don't trust ASRock.
3 hours until I can check when my stuff with come. (i5-2400, 5850, GIGABYTE mobo, some G. Skill RAM)
I hope it'll get here on Friday so I don't have to wait until Monday. :arghfist::saddowns:

Gigabyte motherboards don't, every other brand does.
[editline]12th January 2011[/editline]
And ASRock is a subsidiary of ASUS, why wouldn't you trust them?

ASRock is ASUS's daughter company, and they make nice boards for an excellent price
and the MSI boards do have UEFI - as quoted from their website

I just bought the MSI P67A-C45, it has UEFI.
And yeah I wouldn't trust ASRock, AFAIK they're manufactured by ECS?

Squier is a subsidiary of Fender but that doesn't stop some of the from being shit guitars :v: :iiaga:
I've worked with ASRock boards before and I would recommend them
[editline]12th January 2011[/editline]
also ECS doesn't manufacture ASRock's stuff
in fact, ECS is one of ASRock's main competitors in the Taiwanese market
I don't know, I've just seen horror stories about ASRock boards.
I wouldn't buy ASRock because I can spend what, $20 more and get an ASUS motherboard with two more years of warranty and better aesthetics.
*snip*
Really should check to to see what page I'm on.
asrock are fine but if there was an equivalent asus/gigabyte/msi at the same price I'd choose that instead
@above MSI P67A-GD55, as far as I can tell the only differences between it and the GD65 are the 65 has 2 eSATA on the back panel (which not everyone will use and often comes on cases these days), 2 more SATA 6 (but 2 is most likely enough), the heatsink design is slightly different and has a heatpipe, and you get those voltage checkpoint things
for the average person's needs the GD55 will be enough
[H]ardOCP has given MSI some really favorable reviews for some of their motherboards, including one of the LGA1155 compatible ones. I wouldn't discount the brand just yet.
Just ordered my new build! :D
ASRock P67 Extreme6
i7 2600K
Corsair XMS3 8GB (2x4)
EVGA GTX 570
OCZ Vertex 2 80GB
Samsung F3 1TB
ASUS DVD Burner
Win7 64-Bit
Lian-Li Lancool
Corsair 750W
Ordering my new build tomorrow, sans Hard drive because I found a cheaper one at Fry's and the 8GB of RAM because every time I order RAM from Newegg, a stick is bad. Keeping my current case and video card as well.

I just found out that my Dad lost my copy of W7, so now I have to go out and buy another copy tomorrow.
I could travel to Scan when I get back home and buy a whole new system with sandybridge but I'm one that doesn't really like spending money.
I was looking at an i5 2500k and can buy appropriate mobo/ram and graphics but either a GTX570 or a 6970 due to them being similar price but I'm really undecided. I assume it would shit all over my current system which is an E8400, 4gb memory and a GTX275.
Not done much research in hardware for awhile but I think it could be perhaps the best time to buy right now yes?
Might want to wait until GTX 560 comes out, which should be this month
[editline]12th January 2011[/editline]
it's supposed to perform similar to the 6950, by the way.

I think that the ASUS mobos for P67 are overpriced for what you get.

Actually, they stated that it would compete with the 6870, and it would be better than the GTX 470. It's like the GTX 460 with unlocked everything.

$5 more for a better looking motherboard with a better warranty that does everything your precious ASRock does is definitely overpriced.
[editline]13th January 2011[/editline]
And being better than a GTX 470 isn't competing with a 6870 because the 470 is already better than the 6870.

My brother's case for his new computer is coming on Monday though. He's gonna have to wait.
Page 16 is a phantom page?
Not any more I guess? Is this happening all over FP?
Why aren't the i3 Sandy Bridges being sold on Newegg? Are they being sold anywhere else?

Those aren't being introduced until later in the year, if I recall.
