56 Average FPS on Very High, holy shit. I want a 2500K now. I wonder if I can find a Motherboard + 2500K + 4GB DDR3 RAM for under 5000 SEK. [editline]21st January 2011[/editline] Will a Intel i5 2500K + Gigabyte GA-PH67-UD3 + Corsair XMS3 DDR3 1333MHz 8GB CL9 work together? Not really that good with computer building, it costs 3900 SEK (~585 dollar). [editline]21st January 2011[/editline] And will it work with a 550W Power Supply or will I have to upgrade that too? Using a Gainward GTX460 as graphics card.
Probably. My 480 + quad core worked pretty much fine until you maxed everything out. 460 should draw less power. Also note that the resolution is 1080p+

I just got my 2500k yesterday, and when I boot up, I get a 5 beep error code from my motherboard. That means process error. Is it more likely that the processor has a problem or the Motherboard. The board is an MSI P67A-GD55.
But there was something strange with the pc, first time it didn't want to start up, it ran for like 3 seconds, rebooted itself, ran for half a second, rebooted then ran 100% on the fans, but no picture. Then i tried everything logical, but nothing worked, randomly swapped places on the pci-e power plugs on the gpu and it booted. What the fuck.
I didn't plug in the speaker at the time, so i did not hear a beep code.
It's not the same as mine, right? I didn't plug in the speaker at the time, so i did not hear a beep code.
Looks like the same deal. Maybe it's the processor then? Except mine is STILL not working. I made it to POST once, but haven't since.
Try my fix, it worked for me atleast :v: Also, try removing all unneeded things from the motherboard. EVERYTHING maxed, 16xQAA.

http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=1608562 ITS SO SNAPPY.
I will have one of these new i7s in my computer before the year is out, mark my words. My Athlon 64 X2 needs an upgrade :v:
No thanks, i'll stick with the Mac Pro 8-core. When I need an upgrade i'll go for the 12 core. I only buy Apple products
Resist feeding the under-bridge dweller
My father didn't believe me when i told him - we are both confused.
Actually, I just remembered that I tried that AND reseting the CMOS at the same time. I think the CMOS is what did it though. Thanks anyway, it gave me hope.
Well, I'm gonna send mine back. Some driver issue just keeps bsod on boot, even in safemode, forcing me to format etc. its done this 3 times in the past week :/ If anyone can help, the message I've gotten in the bsod is "IRQL Not less or Equal Error" I have googled the problem, but I think that unless i can find the specific driver thats causing the issue i'm stuffed :/

Do a memory test, most of the new UEFIs have it built in
Doesn't that mean the ram is fucked?
Yeah, I had the same issue on my last computer. Replaced the mobo, and the problem was still there. Replaced the RAM, and it was perfect
$555 saved up so far. Only about $300 to go.
I think I'll get the next batch of processors, E8400 style. Or see what AMD is gonna serve with it's bulldozer thing. Not like I have a choice, all my money's already blown on monitors and I've got fuckloads listed that I need to buy, a pc upgrade isn't exactly high priority right now.

Do we know how Bulldozer will compare to sandybridge?
Doesn't that mean the ram is fucked?
Well, i thought that at first, but i got a different bluescreen message after saying something about iastor.sys, which apparently is a driver storage thing :/ The way it happened was, id install most things, and be able to use my comp for a couple of days. Then id go to install something else, which would crash, then some driver file would stop responding and close itself, then it would bsod :( Its happened 3 times, each with a different program installing. Honestly I don't have a clue what it is, i'll run a ram test later on, and have a play around in the bios :) Also: Asus p8p67 pro.
Do we know how Bulldozer will compare to sandybridge?
No, but knowing how the competition is between AMD and Intel, it probably will.
No, but knowing how the competition is between AMD and Intel, it probably will.
From what I have discerned from trends in CPU power, CPUs are much harder to change and make better than GPUs. So AMD's attempt may come as hit-and-miss. You can never predict these kind of things. especially in a highly competitive and highly technical area such as CPUs. OH and clevo has released laptops that use Sandy Bridge.
Installed my 2500K, idle temps are 20-25c @ stock speed (3.33GHz) haven't got around to overclocking or stress testing for long enough yet. EDIT: I've had Prime95 running on all cores for an hour now and the temps have not broken 40c

Wow, just realized I hadn't replaced the thermal paste on my CPU after I took the heatsink off and put it back on. I'm still under 40 degrees on idle. I could probably get it down to 30 or so if I fixed the paste. [editline]23rd January 2011[/editline] Also, get out of here, spambot
