In 2012 this will be out dated for there will be 1 extra pin on the new socket

Review on bit tech. Get some fucking tissues ready.
:gizz:
Shit, they overclock the i5-2500K to 4.9GHz with a H50.
Motherboard reviews are also popping up, here's the ASUS P8P67 series.

And with that the LGA 1155. LGA1156 sounds stupid, don't you agree?
Soooo going to be upgrading to this when it comes out. Either i7-2600K or i5-2500K. Probably going to be getting a pretty nice mobo too. I don't see a point in overclocking it in the near future though, if just gaming.

Do you have another source for that?

4.9GHz overclock?
Jeez I was expecting ~4.2GHz overclock from the K version, this is even better
CPU from 3.3GHz to 4.5GHz, a safe everyday level
4.5 is an average OC from a 2500K dear god

What incredible news!
Why was I rated rainbows on my last post?
The guys over at [H]ardForum compiled a nice list of the review, here's the thread: http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1574006
are these stock coolers?

[editline]wefe[/editline]
because if they are, they look like such an improvement
I think that's the stock cooler for the old extreme models.
yeah, nevermind,they're not
anyways anandtech says you can hit 4.4 GHz on the 2500K using a stock cooler
I'm going with an aftermarket cooler and hopefully aim for 5+ GHz
Using a BIOS mod to remove the ~47 multiplier lock to go to ~55 (i think, numbers are off a bit), the guy in this thread is claiming to get 5.4 on air.

So, I'm just having enough money to buy a GTX 580 System and I planned to get the Phenom II X6 1090T /1100T for it...
Would you suggest waiting another painful few days for those damn Sandy Bridges to appear in the online stores?

Yes.

Goddangit.
Yes.
Are there official release dates for those big (european) retailers?
I thought it launches everywhere in January 9th
Wow, now my fucking 955 feels like a Pentium 2...
looks like they're sticking with the same stock cooler
large image ahoy
well, if it can go to 4.4GHz on stock, then either:
the stock cooler is efficient
or...
the CPU doesn't take a lot to cool, which would allows for even more overclocking with an aftermarket cooler
[editline]wefe[/editline]
I guess either way is a plus

No, there's a new one, it's just shorter and uses a different fan IIRC.
Same design though.

Sandy on the left, old on the right.

holy shit, people are getting decent overclocks with that?
I'm gonna be running one on a hyper 212+. Reusing from my current 955.

They must run pretty cool.
Imagine a fully watercooled Sandy Bridge rig's overclock...
rate rainbows
I have not seen a heatsink that thin since the days of the original Pentium.
I really want to see waht the real performance marks are though. Not the rated and pre-release ones.
We were ALL disappointed when the real results started trickling out about what the Willamette and Northwood was like.
Interesting tidbit from the Hardware Canucks review:
Based on a third-party's extensive testing of 100 retail D2 stepping processors, this is how Sandy Bridge is shaping up on the overclocking front:
* Approximately 50% of CPUs can go up to 4.4~4.5 GHz
* Approximately 40% of CPUs can go up to 4.6~4.7 GHz
* Approximately 10% of CPUs can go up to 4.8~5 GHz (50+ multipliers are about 2% of this group)
[editline]3rd January 2011[/editline]
The individual quality of your particular chip is going to decide what multiplier you can get.
