AMD releasing anything to compete?
IIRC they're releasing Bulldozer this year, but they'd need to work some serious magic to compete with Sandy Bridge.
Well shit, on Amazon, the only two P67 motherboards are $270.
Overclockers.co.uk just had their shipment UK people :) all the new Sandy Bridge stuff is now in stock the Asus Maximus IV is £400!
What? I thought SB would be shipped and stuff on the 9th.

The new mobos are all dual channel?
How much is the ASUS P8P67?
The new mobos are all dual channel?
Yes [editline]5th January 2011[/editline] I think Overclockers made a boo boo, since all the other websites don't have any of the products for sale yet, and now they've taken them all down too.
They're all down now
They're all down, but my basket is still full :S [img_thumb]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/20632/erm.png[/img_thumb]
What mobos should I be looking at? 1155 or 1156?
1155
But there are no cpus for it :S
9th
just ordered my new pc and if these get to norway at release date im killing paul ottelini
While Fudzilla isn't the most reliable source, what they are saying makes sense. The NDA for reviews was pushed back to January 2, presumably to build up hype. However retailers are not allowed to sell any Sandy Bridge chips until January 9th. Although we might get lucky and someone will "accidentally" offer them a few days earlier. So are there any good upcoming P67 mobos for under $150?
I don't like how it can brick the pc from a remote location. What if someone cracked the encryption on the signal? They could just brick your PC with a homemade button.
I'm just going to use the same response I made 2 weeks ago about this.
This is a small part of Intel vPro, a suite of features designed for businesses that has already been around for years now. AMD has pretty much the exact same thing called DASH which, among other things, "provides a standardized interface that allows a remote console to add/delete users, set/change passwords, and assign roles to users. Pre-defined roles include (Admin/operator/read-only)". http://sites.amd.com/us/business/it-solutions/manageability/Pages/manageability.aspx You all need to stop over reacting.
Would it make sense to upgrade from my 955 to a sandy bridge? Like a 2500k?
Would it make sense to upgrade from my 955 to a sandy bridge? Like a 2500k?
Only if you're not satisfied with the way your games are running.
I may be late, but I found a sandy bridge CPU on newegg... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115074&cm_re=sandy_bridge-_-19-115-074-_-Product It's not available anymore, though.
These look awesome! [editline]5th January 2011[/editline] Now to wait for Newegg to sell them...
From a 1.86ghz stock to one of these? Hell yes!
Only if you're not satisfied with the way your games are running.
Well I am to a degree, but what ever improvement is needed, I'm pretty sure SLI'ing my 460's would make all the difference. I have one of the only Am3 SLI boards I know of, but will a 955 and 2x460 1gb's get 60fps in a game like crysis? The 955 is also at 3.8ghz. (1.53v)
Eh, instead of waiting I just bought a Phenom II X6, at that point, it's already overkill so I don't need anything more than that, especially when it's going to require a new motherboard due to the socket-type, especially when everyone who purchases these things is going to be fucked over royally when LGA 2011 releases later this year, almost doubling the number of pins from 1366. Two socket-types in one year is ridiculous, especially when the motherboards will be at a premium-price until it becomes the standard, only to be outdated three months later.
you better be doing some serious rendering if you want to get your money's worth out of that CPU
*Multitasking and I only bought the overkill one because it was like 30$ more over the quadcore. Might as well right? Also I have a great cooling system, NZXT Phantom case with a Cooler Master V8 heatsink(HOLY FUCK my first impression was "This is something that goes in a car, not a goddamn PC", it is beyond massive)
What's the proposed market for LGA2011? Is it intended for "gamers"?
I don't think so, if I remember correctly it's more towards rendering and workstations like 1366
So 2011 is coming soon? Any more info? Also what's the deal with hardware drm on sandy.
