Oh, I thought that they'd lower intake
when they're clogged with dust maybe, but filters are easier to clean than heatsinks I don't think it's too much of a sacrifice if there's any significant affect on airflow, the benefits of dust filtering outweighs it
Well I can't say my room is dusty, nor can I say it's very clean...got any suggestions for a case with dust filters that are as good as the HAF 932? EDIT: On second thought, I think I'll go with that HAF 932 EDIT2: I've updated the first post, and it looks like I've basically found everything. If anyone has any suggestions (or comments ore complaints) about what I've chosen, please speak up, I still have time~
So I just ran into a potential complication: The heatsink (CM Hyper 212+) seems absolutely HUGE. Looking at its dimensions along with the motherboard (MSI P67A-G43), it looks like the heatsink+fan will completely cover one of the RAM slots Can someone confirm this for me? Will this be a big problem? I plan to get this RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233144 which looks like it has a pretty tall heatsink as well. Will the CPU's heatsink/fan cause any problems for the SECOND RAM slot if I use the above mentioned RAM? Will RAM sticks with no heatspreaders be able to fit in the first slot without too much trouble? What are the cooling implications of this? EDIT: Link fixed /facepalm
Fix the link please?
Sorry about that, link fixed.
I have the basic ASUS P8P67 (which appears to have the RAM/CPU in almost the exactly same position) and it does cover up one slot, but on my mobo, the RAM fills in the order 2/4/1/3, whereas the one you linked to fills 1/2/3/4 (according to the manual and pictures). It probably would still work fine starting in the second slot (but there's always a chance that it doesn't).
unless your RAM has heatsinks I'm pretty sure you'll be fine [editline]wefe[/editline] heat spreaders lol
Alright people, I'm back with another concern: I was reading some customer reviews on the AX850, and it seems like the cables are extremely short. Will this be a problem if I'm going for this case? And one more question: is this PSU compatible with my motherboard (MSI P67A-G43)

combo the 212 and the CPU get a dvd drive that has free shipping if you get that RAM you might have clearance issues with the heatsink
Oh, forgot to change out the RAM, haven't decided what to get yet. Editing post... I found that the 212 + cpu combo actually costs more than if I get the CPU off of TigerDirect and the 212+ off of newegg individually.
How about this PSU for $140 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817703022&nm_mc=EMC-EXPRESS041611&cm_mmc=EMC-EXPRESS041611-_-EMC-041611-Index-_-index-_-17703022

Ahhhh....the replies came a day too late! Ordered the HX850 yesterday >_<
Okay, updated first post. I was going to get the CM HAF 932 for $140 but the guy on craigslist already sold it. My budget is getting crunched, (everything I've ordered so far has amounted to $880) and I don't have a case, RAM, or hard drive. I know, I said hard drive and RAM were recyclable but it turns out that the person my old system is going to need the HDD and RAM :( My questions: -Are there any mid towers that can fit a CM Hyper 212 Plus without trouble? (I'm looking at the Antec 900 Two v3) -Any hard drive suggestions? -Any RAM suggestions?
So $1200-$880 = $320 right? The HAF 922 should fit it, if you wanted a HAF case, ($100) This memory is $30 off ($75) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145345 and you can't go wrong with a F3 Spinpoint ($65) Which is $240, $240 + $880 = $1120 (Am I doing something wrong?) Edit: You could get the 932 and stay under budget if you really wanted it, or you could get another F3 (you won't be able to fit an SSD in the budget) and go RAID 0 Or just save the difference
Spinpoint F3 500gb/1TB Corsair, G.Skill, Patriot, Kingston ect for RAM
Antec 900 Two V3 vs the HAF 922 - what do you guys think? Also, that Vengeance RAM- will it fit next to that massive Hyper 212 Plus?
Antec 900 Two V3 vs the HAF 922 - what do you guys think? Also, that Vengeance RAM- will it fit next to that massive Hyper 212 Plus?
the 922 is my vote also I'm not sure about the RAM - I warned you above that you might have clearance issues with Vengeance memory. Did you buy that RAM? If you did then instead of using slots 1 and 3 you can use 2 and 4 and I'm pretty sure you'll be fine
Haven't ordered any RAM yet, but if I'm going for 4 sticks of RAM- 2 bare sticks 2 of those Vengeance ones in slots 2 and 4, shouldn't I be clear?
How would you end up with 4 sticks of RAM? (With 2 of them 4GB)
I have 2 x 2GB lying around somewhere in my house, I just have to find them ;)

Also, that Vengeance RAM- will it fit next to that massive Hyper 212 Plus?
my gskill pi black has some of the largest heatspreaders i have had on ram, ever; and my d14 fits just fine i'd say you're in the clear
Alrighty then, let's talk about cases. What I'm looking at: Antec 902 Antec 902 V3 CM HAF 922 Suggestions? Comparisons?
922, much superior.
What makes the HAF better than the Antec? From what I see, the Antec has more fans than the HAF and it has dust filters
dust filters just reduce airflow, all you have to do is dust once or twice a month, problem solved the 900 two is worse for cable management, more expensive. all you get over the 922 is a black interior
Okay, so let's say case and RAM are taken care of. Total so far: 880 + 110 (case) + 81 (RAM) = 1071 Hard drive: Spinpoint F3 vs WD1001FALS? They look about the same but the spinpoint is way cheaper. What's with that?
IIRC the caviar black is faster, but only marginally, not enough to pay extra
