For people with a job, $100 is basically nothing. Take away an hour or two for the setup, and you pretty much pay in time what you save in money. I'd still build my own computer over buying a prebuilt any day, but you have to consider the "I have other things to do" money factor here. You're talking about saving $50 on a $1500 purchase.
I told my mom to buy a prebuilt, because she just needed a low-end PC and it was easy, cheap, she doesn't care about the parts, it's all under one warranty, etc. But for my own gaming computer, I always build it myself, mostly for fun and getting to choose every part, not necessarily for the price.

You forget, being able to get better parts with more warranty. And that home build computers usually arrent his close to pre-built prices.

That's fair, but that's matching the build part for part, if he had chosen the build from other parts it could have been cheaper and better.

I never said it wouldn't be, I'm just saying that at some point you have to consider how much you're really saving. For gaming machines, I think it's still worth it, but not for Facebook keyboard warriors.

This is true. Lifetime warranty on some parts can be great.
I can do that again with cheaper parts if you guys want

Something tells me some of these should not be taken entirely serious.[/QUOTE]
Bad example, this one should definitely be taken seriously.
