That's not all it's used for.
care to explain? I'm interested about this "super fetch"
Is there a way to make this run automatically, like every second or less? When running Crysis I don't want to minimize or run in a window, just to use this.
care to explain? I'm interested about this "super fetch"
Superfetch preloads programs that you use frequently into memory, theoretically making them load faster. Unfortunately, in the act of loading multiple programs at once, even if you don't use them, it makes the programs and your computer load slower.
OK, 2 questions. 1. How can I turn off super fetch? (Thanks in advance, I hate when my computer decides to do things automatically for me) 2. Do you think you'd be able to make a G15 Keyboard applet for this program? You can already monitor CPU/RAM usage with G15 screen, I'd love to be able to push a button and have it free the ram.

Hit Administrative tools. Hit services. Sort by name and scroll down to superfetch, right click it and hit properties. Under startup type, hit "disabled". 2. No, sorry.
Is it bad if you end svchost.exe? I realized it was taking the most memory so I ended both but then my theme went away so in CMD I did net start uxsms and then it reappeared. So is it bad to end svchost? Edit: PS great program. Thanks!
Does this work on Vista 64-bit?
yeah, freed 8 Mb for me
how you guyz get cool skins for it?
That would be an autoit bug, and I'm sure Jon would love to hear more. Are you sure one gig isn't just pagefile? I have the application only count physical RAM.
What do you mean? I have 2 gigs of physical ram and my pagefile is set to use about that much I think as well.
After talking with a friend, it looks like I'm going to be able to have an auto-updating system in place, mainly because you guys give me so many suggestions so quickly. I'd recommend you bookmark this thread and check for updates periodically, because it should be up and running soon (within the week.) I've already figured out how this is going to work, so it shouldn't take long to do.
Only having 256mb of ram makes me want to kill myself.
Avast! didn't detect it as a virus, FYI.
Yes, aren't we fortunate that an anti-virus which scans for reported virii didn't find this program that a facepunch member just created to be dodgy.
Yes, aren't we fortunate that an anti-virus which scans for reported virii didn't find this program that a facepunch member just created to be dodgy.
What are you saying? When I put up SWEP Factory, everyone with Avast! said that it said the file was a virus. Either avast hasn't been updated to flag the new version of autoit yet, or they had it stop flagging all autoit-generated programs. Autoit doesn't work based on a list of known viruses, it scans them. I provided the source code for proof that this isn't malicious at all, so if that's what your suggesting, I suggest you leave this thread. If not, sorry. Your post is poorly worded.
Works great. :) Thanks.

I've been thinking about having it download a ZIP and automatically extract it, but that'd be more effort than it's worth. I'll just have it notify the user when an update is available and provide a download link.
I like this program but why am I using 500mb of my 2 gigs when I just started the computer and don't have anything running except Norton 360, Trillion. and 41 processes. Shouldn't it be lower.

Edit: News update: Vicis made the autoupdater because I'm too busy to do it myself right now, so the new version should be out before Saturday.
Hey, it would be really nice and helpful if you also put a CPU bar somewhere. I really like this app and it would be great if there was a CPU meter on it so I can see what my CPU is using. Could you please add a CPU meter please? Thanks.
Avast didn't warn me about this... Awesome program tho! It shows excactly the same RAM usage as my G15 :D
Hmmmm, is there any way you can get it to include VRAM and have to option to clear that, if any?

Love it. I can lower my usage by almost 4%! Great work.
Awesome Post. I was getting Problems with stalker but it seems to be working fine now. I hope
Some things I think you can improve on. First of all, when you exit it out, it should go to the tray, and when you minimize it it should just minimize. I find my self exiting it out without thinking when I don't really want to exit it out. Instead to exit, you have to click on it in the tray and select "Exit". Second of all, when you double click on it in the tray, it should open the program up instead of having to select, "show ram freer". If you made these updates to it, I think it would be a lot easier to use. So basically, do the same thing that bittorrent and limewire use, with the tray and all.
Still waiting for auto-free feature.
School's out now so I should be able to get more work done. I might have the next update roughly finished within a few hours.
Avast! shouts trojan when I try to download this. Any explanation for that?
