I always use VirtualDub with DivX 6.8.5 Codec (4 Logical CPUs) with these settings Haven't tried H.264, might do that for my next video
For H264 I use MeGUI. It downloads all the components (encoders, tools etc) from their official sites, so it's always got the latest stuff.
For Left4Dead2, I make a demo then use source recorder to render it into an Xvid. If the file is too big I run it through WinFF, though H264 may be my my new choice.
VirtualDub & Xvid. Or if you can do your editing with the source media (ie: drag and drop fraps vids into vegas) then render to mainconcept AVC/AAC Mp4... which you should end up doing anyway if you edit with vegas.
I prefer WMV format better. Its quality is higly acceptable, with small filesize. Not a huge fan of H264, because the output file is somewhat large

WMV's sound quality is awful.
I use mediacoder 64
I use mediacoder 64
I heard other people use mediacoder 64 too.
Because 1280x720 is a horrible res for youtube, right?
Well considering 720p is about 2.25x smaller than 1080p, that's why it's much smaller. I've used it alot in the past, then I went back to WMV for ease, and now I'm encoding all my stuff to .mkv's.
Hey op what video card do you have cause you could use ati avivo to compress it with gpu computing.
AVIVO is the worst program on the face of the planet.
uh the only answer is to use sony vegas and render as H.264 anyone saying anything else is just pulling your leg
i usually use SUPER.
Just make a movie that you want in Sony Vegas and export it
When I record stuff with FRAPS... like L4D2, the end result is a 3 gig file of sped up garbage when I enable sound recording at the same time. If I disable sound, it runs fine. What's going on

VirtualDub with the XVid codec, I guarantee you will not be dissapointed.
Download a trial of a video editor and then scale it down. It (vegas 9.0) scaled my would be bandwidth killing 1 gb Borderlands video into a uploadable 31mb. Not even kidding! You should also try VirtualDub and get the K-Lite Codec pack incase you don't want to download a trial software.
I want your sony vegas export settings now.
