L4D plays fine at 1440x900, but your 9400 is underpowered for such a task. My 8800GTS handles everything fine.
It handles the task just fine.
This is a PC I'm currently fixing in front of me. I'm getting paid $80 to fix two similar DELL towers, both are Dimension 3100's with matching specs. P4 @2.8, 512MB RAM, Intel graphics.

God damn, I'm glad I'm not a Windows user anymore. I got tired of fixing this shit on my own computers.

That "security Center Service" in the tasktray keeps popping up on it's own, saying "Your system is running spyware, blah blah blah..."

Smart Windows users never have to fix that shit on their own computers. I used to use Spybot S&D when I was a noob and used shitty programs like KaZaA, but by the time I got my second computer programs like Spybot and Adaware no longer found anything because I was smart and avoided getting spyware.

I share my computers with my brother, and he uses shit like Limewire and some other shit that would install zango crap, etc. So I just let him the Windows partitions and I installed Linux Mint on dual-boot. Now our shit doesn't affect eachother.
Just did a reinstall.

Wouldn't it be smarter for him to be using linux mint, because he can't infect it?

I'm using Linux, not a Mac. And my brother is too ignorant to bother learning Linux.
How hard is it to learn how to use linux on the side?
I'm thinking on booting a spare system with DSL or something.

He's got the attention span of ten-second Tom. And I carry DSL on a 64MB USB stick with QEMU.
