I got a iMac from a friend
She didn't know the password so it was impossible to do anything on it other then surf the net and even then I couldn't install Flash or Firefox

You mean the icons? .downloads, designs and stuff?
That's just avedesk shortcuts, the same thing as on the right. Not a dock per see.

Also curious - while I love dark visual styles, does anyone know of a way to force Word and similar apps to ignore the window theme colours. So that you have a normal white page with black text?
