Remove those damn shortcut arrows
Because XP is far better than Vista.
Windows 7 is better than XP (at least in most people's opinions), but it's also quite expensive so not everyone can afford it, maybe?
XP sucks pretty bad in comparison to vista (at least SP2, pre-service pack that was at least arguably true)
Vista beats the motherloving shit out of XP except for one thing. Vista is a massive resource hog.
That's why we have Windows 7
That's why we have Windows 7
w7 is just as bad
Yeah, Windows 7 really is quite bloated after installing Windows Updates. Even with a fresh installation, the updates make it grow by alot.

using RAM for something > letting RAM sit there unused
[editline]10:40AM[/editline]
and I don't see how it can be hogging resources when it lets them go whenever something else needs them
If you turn off superfetch it still idles at around 550 MB
In the end ram usage should not matter, as long as everything runs smoothly. I tend not to care.

I've not seen a long term vista user think that.
The supposed performance hit is usually due to people not being used to the animations which "look" as if they were slow.

Who the fuck would want to turn off SF?
Vista beats the motherloving shit out of XP except for one thing. Vista is a massive resource hog.
Do you know what a resource hog is or did you just hear someone else say it and decide to jump on board? Let's put it this way: Say you're on a basketball team and whenever Jimmy gets the ball he doesn't pass it or give it to someone. He is a ball hog. Meaning he never lets anyone use it once he gets it. Vista however will lower RAM usage if a program needs it. This is called memory management.
So say Windows is using 34% of 4GB of RAM. I launch an application that requires 90% of RAM. Well then since you can't use more than 100% of your RAM whatever will you do? Nothing because Windows' memory management and superfetch will take care of it.

What is that actually?
What is that actually?
Like Prefetch but better. It preloads files for quicker launching. SuperFetch is faster and more efficient. And ReadyBoost can host the cache on a USB disk rather than in RAM.
SuperFetch is faster and more efficient.
I assume that it's enabled by default, since I know that ReadyBoost is enabled manually.
Could you guys link me to how to get that big text telling the time that some of you have?

I'm sure that countless others

Yes.

All right then, thanks for info.

Well that's what I was basing my opinion off. The only time I used Vista was when my mother got a new laptop with it on, and it just seemed to have an endless stream of problems.
Also, made me laugh how stating my opinion very nearly started a page-long war :v:
