I've never in my entire life seen or barely even heard of anything that uses firewire.
Video cameras and harddrives.
Anyways, i got the question from what forum OIFY was :v:
I answered gman's question about SPARC correctly, then lost because i forgot who made firewire :v:
Apple were the ones who made Firewire.
what the fuck is pc? i use usb.
My old video camera used it, I've had a few hard drives that supported it and, if I'm not mistaken, all iPods and iPhones have support for Firewire.
What laptop model is that? I got a laptop that's similar to yours.. a siemens nixdorf pcd-4nd.
What's serial I/O? I use manually refracting and reflecting light through hundreds of mirrors and magnifying glasses.
What's serial I/O? I use manually refracting and reflecting light through hundreds of mirrors and magnifying glasses.
That's a good way to do it. Also very fast because data travels at speed of light
Well, we know it's > 5000 (LMAO Pics is currently at post 5084), but the list of numbers greater than five thousand is infinitely long.
We can probably assume, though, that post numbers are stored as 32-bit integers. Which puts our limit at 2147483648 or so.
Unless it's unsigned, then it'll be something like 4294967296.

Err. Lets hope the limit has moved to 8000 or so.

Meaning 4 trillion posts per thread might take a while to end.
got a question but it probably isnt worth a thread so here goes:
I am looking to buy a 24" monitor for my computer, as I have a widescreen at work and I find it makes my CAD/Design work a million times easier as I can actually ssee what I am working on, now I would like to buy one for myself at home to supplement my two 17" monitors.
I have tested a 24" monitor and one thing I noticed was that upping the resolution to 1920 x 1080 led to my screen having a fairly fuzzy clarity to it, bearing in mind the monitor in question I used was a Samsung TV, so I would imagine that has something to do with it (also plugged in using a HDMI cable).
I think I would like to buy this monitor:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-B2430H-Widescreen-Monitor-Gloss/dp/B0037LIOO8/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top
If anyone could give me some feedback/wisdom that would be excellent, I do not want to spent a large amount of money and end up with something I would have to get a refund on. Thankyou for all replies :)
Are you using VGA or DVI/HDMI? VGA Can cause fuzzyness
What's the actual difference between VGA and DVI? I have a VGA screen and it works well, I really can't picture it being any better than what it is now.
Are you using VGA or DVI/HDMI? VGA Can cause fuzzyness
I have a DVI cables, this one in particular:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000067RM2/ref=oss_product
I am pretty sure this is the type of DVI cable that can handle HD resolution? I did not use the DVI cable though as the monitor (well TV) I used did not have a DVI port on it.
Err. Lets hope the limit has moved to 8000 or so.

It's rather 4 billion then.
Heh, Game of Nerds thinks HTC made the first Android phone. It was Motorola, if I remember correctly.
Actually, Wikipedia states that "The first commercially available phone to run Android was the HTC Dream"... but we're always open to revisions based on contrary evidence. Anyway, enjoy the game

The correct answer was 'Increase the power supply'

Look at what i just posted, increasing a power supply does not increase pc performance

I'm guessing you have something to do with the creation and moderation of Game Of Nerds?
[editline]23rd July 2011[/editline]
Wait no, I see you made a previous post regarding that.

1. The answer is PHP (WTF?? P Stand for PHP?)
2. Since when does php mean personal home page?, it means Hypertext PreProcessor, it's HPP but PHP sounds better and thats why that is used.

I do. The main thread for the game is actually over here: http://www.facepunch.com/threads/1108864-Game-of-nerds?p=31211112#post31211112
It generated so much extra traffic compared to what I've seen since launch (we only started a week ago), I thought I'd come by and answer questions about the game and take down suggestions. So far it goes something like "gameplay good, coin system bad".
To the one who asked: The resurrection system is related to the 'team' feature where you can build a team of people on your friend list and ask them for help during the game. 'Resurrections' allow you to bring back team members you've already used up.

Actually Wikipedia would have us believe that "While PHP originally stood for "Personal Home Page", it is now said to stand for "PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor", a recursive acronym." Could be a disputed thing; if so, I'll send the question to cold storage.
But P stand for PHP? What :v:
Yes, that's why they call it a recursive acronym.

Recursive acronyms = nerd humour.

Under chemistry, it asks what gives a reinvigorating effect, answer is caffiene which is a typo and should be caffeine :v:
- so it should. Fixed.
Next time be sure to use the loopback address. I just wish he loopback address didn't look so abnormal.
The loopback address can be any combination of numbers, just as long as it starts with 127.
There's been a lot of thunderstorms and lightning around here all summer. Some time ago I bought this pretty cheap APC surge protector and while the product page does say it protects against lightning, i wonder just how well? It was pretty cheap afterall and if it's no good, how much money do I need to spend to be protected from lighning strikes?
