No, no we wouldn't the removal of any useful feature is stupid. We're taking a stab at Apple because of how like them it is to do this.
well shit my old DOS game I used to play in elementary school I wanted to play on Vista but FUCK MICROSOFT REMOVED SUPPORT FOR IT I CANT PLAY IT, WHY DO THEY REMOVE USEFUL FEATURES THEY SUCK You take every opportunity to bash Apple, even for dumb reasons like that
yeah, are you going to complain when Microsoft drops XP since it's their software
No, because no one uses XP anymore
Nope. There is basically a BIOS password, so really no changes to the boot can be made. Theres like, a whole team of students that were trying to crack it however.
I was about to say you can corrupt the BIOS password (And thus removing it) using cmd.exe/command.com but then i realized it were macs :v:
No, because no one uses XP anymore
The number of Windows XP user icons I've seen on here would make me have to disagree with you.
Today(27th) we celebrate 30 years of MS-DOS!
I'm still using MS DOS 6.
No, because no one uses XP anymore
Three out of the four computers our family owns do
No, because no one uses XP anymore
Sorry, but no. That's the ideal world, but we're living in a world infested with stupid people. We're talking about an operating system that people have been able to use for more than 4-5 years, they've grown to accept it as a part of their lives. For some people (the type who are too fucking retarded to turn their printer on), it's going to be extremely hard to move over to something newer and better. Stupid people fear change when it comes to technology, I've seen. Hell, the IT admin at the work placement I was doing (if anyone still remembers me talking about it, not talking about the ISP I was, but the "health-care related facility that I'm not going to mention") hadn't even used anything newer than XP and they were just being forced to switch over to Windows 7. Their software didn't work at all (It was some shitty scheduling program that was done with Visual FoxPro) and she didn't know anything about UAC. Hell, she didn't even know the compability thing exists when you open properties on some program.
What I meant to say was no one SHOULD be using XP anymore [editline]27th July 2011[/editline] Unless they have old computers
What I meant to say was no one SHOULD be using XP anymore [editline]27th July 2011[/editline] Unless they have old computers
Run linux on old computers IMHO.
What I meant to say was no one SHOULD be using XP anymore [editline]27th July 2011[/editline] Unless they have old computers
they should install some lightweight linux distro on their old computers it would be cool if schools just use linux and open source software on their computers, would save money too, not having to buy tons of windows licences [editline]27th July 2011[/editline] ninja'd!
[editline]27th July 2011[/editline] I know it's late, but it's pretty interesting.
The old heaps of crap that most schools have would benifit from that greatly.
I was actually quite surprised to see that some of the computers in my school have Core 2 Quads in them. Saw them all lined up in one of the IT suites on the last day and sadly I couldn't salvage any of them, the good ones were going to the new school and the old ones are being "recycled" (getting the dust removed and then being sold on to idiots).

"your shit"
Anyone know of a adblock for chrome that actually does what ADP for Fx does? Youtube and popup ads still occasionally appear.
"your shit"
yep my shit
Anyone know of a adblock for chrome that actually does what ADP for Fx does? Youtube and popup ads still occasionally appear.
Not for me?

I couldn't resist going and commenting on that grammar.
Jeez I cocked up a question in GoN and now I can't even cancel/fix/see it [editline]27th July 2011[/editline] Okay nevermind, I found a way to delete it and it asked me if I "Vil du slette dette spørgsmål?" Uh yes i guess

Apparently GoN is made by someone Norwegian or something. Actually, why don't I just see which flag the author has :v: [editline]27th July 2011[/editline]

Make that "For internet browsing". Because it's actually not too far from the truth, considering it is a pretty advanced OS for internet browsing.
I couldn't resist going and commenting on that grammar.
and you got something like "Only loserss use care bout that" this i assume ?
Its times like these that I miss MacTrekkie
OS X PANTHER IS THE WORLDS MOST ADVANCED OS
Panther came out before Tiger
I don't know why everyone hates Apple products so much. I happen to like them very very very much. I mean, isn't it nice to be able to see into the past to see how technology used to be?
Man, I get back in here and there's a hundred posts AND NEITHER SIDE IS MAKING COHERENT ARGUMENTS. First, there's a small benefit to Apple from ditching PowerPC - if they include it, they have to include PPC versions of all their shared libraries. Takes up a lot of disc space, which some of their computers (coughcoughmacbookaircough) don't have (although they could just make it an optional component (although knowing Apple they'll charge you $20 for it)). Second, there are still a lot of people who want the backwards compatibility, as evidenced in this very thread. If it was an active cost to Apple to maintain/update it, it might make sense - when they moved to Intel, they ditched the M68K emulator the PowerPC version had since they would have to rewrite it - but in this case, they don't have to do anything to keep it. Third, the analogy with 16/32/64-bit Windows is misleading. The dates don't compare. Windows: Moved to 32-bit in 1995, dropped 16-bit support in 2007 (Windows Vista was the first version widely available in 64-bit, although you can install the 32-bit version and run 16-bit software). Apple: Moved to Intel in 2007, dropped PowerPC support in 2011. Windows kept compatibility with their previous system for 12 years. Apple did it for only four. The whole analogy to 16-bit support being dropped is flawed. 64-bit Windows supporting 16-bit programs would be comparable to Intel Apples supporting M68000 programs, not Intel Apples supporting PowerPC programs. Or, in reversal, Intel Apples ditching PowerPC compatibility is like 64-bit Windows dropping 32-bit support. Overall, Apple doing this is a dick move, but I'm not surprised by it - Apple's always been dicks.
