$700 down the drain.
That happened when he bought it.
That happened when he bought it.
He didn't buy it. He works as an assistant principal at a nearby school which gives iPads to staff members. He is going to have to pay for a replacement now.
I'm not so concerned about the actual distribution as much as why are you browsing wikifur?
Uh... It had Wacom tablet support? ...Shit
How did your dad react? Had you done anything similar he would probably make you pay for yourself...
How did your dad react? Had you done anything similar he would probably make you pay for yourself...
He seemed upset, but don't really know what exactly he will do yet, as he had to leave to pick up my mom.
Wonderful. My sister somehow managed to brick my dad's iPad. $700 down the drain.
You can't brick an iPad in software. Always recoverable. The most you can do is fuck the baseband up on a 3G version, and even then it'll still boot, just no 3G.
Good news, everyone. It started working again after my dad held the lock button for a few minutes straight.
Was it possible that it worked but the backlight went out? I had that problem with my iPod. [editline]27th July 2011[/editline] er, by "went out" I mean "didn't turn on". Like a connection got loose or something
Whoa, steam was downloading at 4.9MB/s, considering i usually get 1MB that's insanely fast.
Whoa, steam was downloading at 4.9MB/s, considering i usually get 1MB that's insanely fast.
Isn't there a new download system or something?
yep
Woah, Minecraft server, idling, using 1.5GB RAM. How in the fuck
Is any Redstone running?
it's java, what do you expect?
Woah, Minecraft server, idling, using 1.5GB RAM. How in the fuck
Is that windows server 2008?
Is that windows server 2008?
Yup

180 day trial....I'm hoping to get a key off dreamspark when school starts [editline]28th July 2011[/editline] All my merge is broken
180 day trial....I'm hoping to get a key off dreamspark when school starts [editline]28th July 2011[/editline] All my merge is broken
Don't let Derpmeifter see that, he'll explode.
What? He already knows I'm using Windows server. I haven't told him about the dreamspark part though.
-snip-
What? He already knows I'm using Windows server. I haven't told him about the dreamspark part though.
Oh. Last time I said the name he had to leave the mumble server and rage or something. Or he was taking a piss.
Today I took apart my family's old TiVo. Almost. I had taken out everything, including the old 80GB IDE HDD in it (Any suggestions on what I should do with it?) except for the motherboard. I had taken out all the screws and everything else that was holding it down, and tried lifting it out. It wouldn't budge. I looked around for any screws I had missed, and found one screw. One tiny screw, which wouldn't normally be a problem, I would have just taken pliers to it to get it out. But this one damned screw was in the middle of the extremely tightly packed video output ports. Why the hell did they put the damned thing there, of all places?
Goddamn, I want open.gl already.
Because the ports need support to not break
Because the ports need support to not break
I know that. Its just that this particular screw was in the middle of several tightly packed ports, unlike every other screw on the back panel, which were above the ports they were supporting. Honestly, this is a rather stupid thing for me to complain about. If I just had a star screwdriver that size it wouldn't be a problem.

Like you said every port had its own screw, well if there were multiple ports that needed to be supported it is cheaper to put one screw in then put one in for every single one. The placement was so that the one screw they did use could be placed in such a way to support all of them at once.
