my dad doesn't use an AV :byodood: i think i'm the only one in my family who uses one
My mother won't accept anything other than MSE. Why? Because Microsoft made it, and Microsoft made Windows. Therefore, she doesn't believe anyone else can do things as well as MSE can.
but MSE is the best AV, no problem there
am i the only one who thinks that the measurement of speed we use for processors (hertz) is kind of useless considering it varies from architecture, manufacturer and even the line of processor the amount of processing power it represents?
am i the only one who thinks that the measurement of speed we use for processors (hertz) is kind of useless considering it varies from architecture, manufacturer and even the lines of processor the amount of processing power it represents?
I think it has stuck for two reasons, one being that alternative quantifiers never caught on(catch 22) and that the manufacturers have been able to boast about higher numbers each year for over twenty years.
am i the only one who thinks that the measurement of speed we use for processors (hertz) is kind of useless considering it varies from architecture, manufacturer and even the line of processor the amount of processing power it represents?
Hertz works OK for comparing processors from the same line. And it used to be relatively consistent provided the architecture was the same - the performance differences between a 40mHz i486DX, a 40mHz Am486DX, and a 40mHz Cx486DLC are miniscule. And it still provides a decent rough benchmark. If I tell you my processor is a dual-core 2.26gHz, you know "it's middle-of-the-line, slightly old, but still acceptable". If I tell you it's a single-core at 1.2gHz, you know "that's old as crap". If I tell you it's hexa-core, overclocked to 5 gHz, you know "that's a beast processor". Also, there's no universally-accepted replacement. FLOPS are often seen, but vary based on which benchmark is used, and can often be limited or affected by other parts in the system, making it more useful for supercomputers, or perhaps entire rigs, not particular processors.
flops have increased much faster than gigahertz, and are a much better way to represent the performance of a processor
Measuring CPU power on it's own is useless without the rest of the specs anyway.
but MSE is the best AV, no problem there
There is no true "best" AV. MSE is one of the best, yes, but not the best. Next time I reformat my Windows install I'm going to install Avast instead of MSE, just to switch it up a bit.
just get threatfire and mse you will be virusproof
obviously it's not 'the best', but it's the best imo, and for me, because it's unintrusive, free, easy to install (windows update) and well integrated into windows.
Antivirus' are usually based on opinion, As in you have tiers of quality, so in the god tier you have Avast!, MSE, NOD32 and all that then you have the lowly peasant tier with shit like Norton and rogues. All that shit. You just take your personal preference from those in the God tier.
the lowly peasant tier with shit like Norton and rogues. You just take your personal preference from those in the God tier.
Don't insult rogues by putting them in the same level as Norton.
Actually Norton is probably worse than a rouge; With a rouge, the PC will be crippled until you pay for it, but with Norton, it'll be crippled after you pay for it too. And rouges are pretty easy to remove.
I think I just invited a guy to Facepunch. I was browsing Craigslist looking for someone to go have a little party like thing. And I found a guy who was really nice sounding, and had great grammar and all the stuff we love. I'll quote some stuff he wrote in his ad/article thing.
I don't know what my nerd ratings are, but I'm very much into video games, anime, computers and internet. I visit the game arcades several times a month just to play "Dance Dance Revolution" or "In the Groove" and they're music based games. The two most frequent computer games I play are "Quake Live" and "Quake 3". Yeah! I'm a Quake series fan cause I love fast paced shooter games and I consider Quake games to be for serious gamers only. Maybe someday I'll become a professional computer gamer. Halo and Call of Duty is for amateurs! At least in my opinion that is. :) I play many of the old 2D games from the 90s era and role playing games such as Final Fantasy series. Final Fantasy VII is one of my most favorite RPG from my childhood and I was a bit sad when Aeris died :(

I can fix computers and I am planning to build one soon. I'm actually very technically inclined with computers. I can even setup a machine to run websites or other things in another country. As for music, I'm definitely into it, but just not really into any mainstream music. So if you expect me to know every old classical rock band there is then I don't keep up with it. I listen to all kinds of music such as trance, dance, electronic, alternative rock, game soundtracks and music from anime. Most of the music I like are from artist or singers no one really knows about.
I told him to look me up if he decided to join.
Quake and Final Fantasy? I think we can live with those choices.
Quake and Final Fantasy? I think we can live with those choices.
And don't forget the hates CoD and Halo! [editline]7th August 2011[/editline]
Quake and Final Fantasy? I think we can live with those choices.
Oh and if the Final Fantasy part is sarcasm, go play one. They're amazingly fun.
Someone behind me playing the theme to Monkey Island at a rather high volume. I approve.
Someone behind me playing the theme to Monkey Island at a rather high volume. I approve.
Where are you?
Where are you?
Assembly Summer 2011.
but MSE is the best AV, no problem there
Comodo.
Comodo.
No best AV; MSE is fine, Nod32 if you want less Microsoft on your computer, Comodo if you have an affinity for lizards.
No best AV; MSE is fine, Nod32 if you want less Microsoft on your computer, Comodo if you have an affinity for lizards.
Well, let's just say that things have gotten through when I've used MSE and Avast. Nothing has ever gotten through when I've used Comodo. I honestly do not understand why nobody ever mentions Comodo in a discussion about AV. /2cents.
Well I've never had any kind of imaginable problem with nod32 either, they work just like they should for almost all people and none of us have any reason to change.
To make it easier, I mean this: [editline]6th August 2011[/editline] Nevermind, found it. Thanks though, it was a rainmeter skin.
Oh god i need that windows theme, already have the rainmeter skin.
I think that there should be a gaming convention somwhere in the middle of the US (Missouri) Im not from there. But its a good central location.
I think that there should be a gaming convention somwhere in the middle of the US (Missouri) Im not from there. But its a good central location.
Oklahoma is a central location. And I wouldn't have to leave the state. :toot:
Oh and if the Final Fantasy part is sarcasm
No, I agree, Final Fantasy is a good series.
Steam being nice and helpful as always.
The webhost I have does that every time there's an error. You had an error while editing this file. Then shit like that.
Oklahoma is a central location. And I wouldn't have to leave the state. :toot:
but what the fuck is in OK. It's the one state that really cannot make a name for itself
