Who's gonna eavesdrop on you anyway
I wasn't thinking of that, I was thinking more of grabbing a person's API key from their Android phone when the phone syncs with Google to check for mail.
Or perhaps packet capture what's going on between the phone and the tower when the Facebook app fetches updates.
My mom called me today while I was at eye doctor asking me to suggest her new laptop. I told her to look at HP minis or other Asus netbook on local computer store website which cost like 250-300 bucks. Later my dad called me dumb and thought mom's current Toshiba laptop from 2000 which runs XP (at that time it probably costed more than 2000 bucks) performs much much better. Worst part is he works at IT. I'm not even going to bother as he always sticks to his opinion and my mom probably going to go with his opinion.

That, technically, falls into the category of eavesdropping.
I would buy the game, but then pirate it just to see the funny anti-piracy things they put in like that :v:

According to Black's Law Dictionary, eavesdropping is "the act of secretly listening to the private conversation of others without their consent."
Sure, you can define a TCP/IP exchange as a conversation, but there's no need when we already have definitions for that.
Not to mention a TCP/IP connection is hardly private.

To be honest, my superviser has been in IT for like 35 years, but I showed him my 600 dollar video cards he didn't know what the did.

I'm starting to get afraid of going into IT.

This is why I've been using Diceware for the past 2 years.
I for some reason can't remember my simple passwords. Having to memorize a password apparently helps me remember it, so it's actually beneficial for me to make them complicated.

Semantics.

Or you can just save your time by youtubing it?
Or you can just save your time by youtubing it?
That is nowhere near as fun.
Semantics.
The entire argument on both sides is based on semantics.
The entire argument on both sides is based on semantics.
My question, "Who's going to eavesdrop on you?" meant all possible means of communication, including but not limited to SMS, phone calls, IP over packet radio etc.

to be completely and totally honest, the toshiba she has is probably better than a craptastic atom laptop, but not by much.

Yeah, but is it $1700 better?
Apple should calm down now. As now the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 can't be sold in the whole EU (except the Neitherlands) because of Apple.

obviously not, but she already has the laptop so it costs her zilch. i mean it might be a good idea to get an EEE PC in foresight of this but you should run your hardware into the ground

apple needs to stop waving around their huge patent hard on
apple needs to stop waving around their huge patent hard on
Have you seen how generic that patent is?
http://www.scribd.com/doc/61944044/Community-Design-000181607-0001

That's right, a rectangle in a rectangle with rounded corners.
And a little socket on the bottom.

the fuck? that can't be a legal patent
but if it is whoever at the patenting office approved of it needs to be shot, then fired, then shot again

Then burnt.
Seriously, I'm all for protection of things like books and software, but that's way too fucking vague. I can't even see dimensions or material specifications.
the fuck? that can't be a legal patent
you'd be surprised by the amount of ridiculous patents

fuck, I know some tablets (drawing sort mind you) that look like that, minus the glossy glass and actual screen obviously
RUN AND HIDE WACOM BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE!!11
this is why for technology, unless the outside is a complete rip off, you shouldn't be able to enforce patents about the look and "feel" of the device.
[editline]10th August 2011[/editline]
hey, maybe with this patent bullshittery, apple will actually get enough money to lower their products to FUCKING REASONABLE PRICES BUT THAT'S NOT GONNA HAPPEN IS IT!?!??!?!?!
hahaha wow that is actually ridiculous
Woah!
but fuck apple has more money than the country they reside in so they can just go "here's a hundred million dollars if you let us patent stupid shit" and still not take a huge hit to their stupidity coffers
[editline]10th August 2011[/editline]
