CERN wants to use BOINC to calculate crap with unused desktop power. Sounds good to me, I go over to the project page. So, to participate, you need to have BOINC installed and... Virtualbox? I think I know where this is going, virtualization extensions on the CPUs have been getting better but I'm not sure if doing something like that is a good idea just yet. I'll give it a try regardless.
A little late, but here is my idea for a SSID name for wireless access points: "HelpImTrappedInAWiFIFactory" Also, im pretty pissed at Apple for screwing over SAMSUNG. They are clearly abusing the legal system in order to increase profits and retain their monopoly in the tablet market. Apple is like a little kid who starts crying when he starts losing at a game.

Was wondering if anyone had any experience with this program at all, thinking about using it on my Acer laptop. http://virtuawin.sourceforge.net/modules.php
You can see BOINC was made by a bunch of engineers, the UI is a bunch of cluttered bullshit and all the Google Translate Finglish doesn't help me in finding the general preferences menu so I can change this crap to English.
Was wondering if anyone had any experience with this program at all, thinking about using it on my Acer laptop. http://virtuawin.sourceforge.net/modules.php
I used it for a short while but decided that it wasn't worth it. it would probably be more useful on a laptop though
BOINC controls the calculations the VM is doing by pausing and resuming it. Sure, that works, but I wouldn't do that to an operating system.
to be completely and totally honest, the toshiba she has is probably better than a craptastic atom laptop, but not by much.
Pentium 3 or something along those lines
Pentium 3 or something along those lines
...maybe not so much then...
...maybe not so much then...
She is going to read some russian UFO conspiracies and believe them and watch some movies. So I guess Atom is good enough.
Considering I can watch 480p Youtube videos on my netbook, while my old Celeron 2.6GHz couldn't stop dropping frames all over the place, I'd say Atoms are actually not that bad...
So far I've broken 2 microUSB cables. I wonder if there's a company that makes microUSB cables out of a titanium alloy that I can't break.
So far I've broken 2 microUSB cables. It will make the cable as expensive as one of those fancy HDMI cables costing 1000$ or more. But at least your cable can survive an airplane crash.
Watching Star Trek: TNG Season 3 Episode 20 right now. It took me 22 minutes to figure out this episode could be a reference to Farscape, and 5 seconds to realize ST:TNG stopped airing in '94 and Farscape didn't air until '99. Not sure if I'm supposed to be impressed at my ability to recognize the significant amount of time between the 2 shows, or if I'm supposed to be disappointed my brains even tried to connect the two things together.
just upgraded my Macbook Pro's RAM no more constant paging feels good man
just upgraded my Macbook Pro's RAM no more constant paging feels good man
You should consider upgrading the OS.
You should consider upgrading the OS.
The dGPU can't be disabled in Windows or Linux due to some Applefuckery.
You should consider upgrading the OS.
why can't someone use OS X, I don't understand
I found this amusing: http://www.team-dignitas.net/articles/news/Blog/279/Apollo-Assembly-Summer-Blog On Monday: "I woke up for breakfast, then finished my packing and we went to the airport nice and early around 12pm while our flight was 6pm... I thought this was going to a tough 6hours until we found out the wireless internet, free internet at the airport was 9down and 6up, wtf?" Not bad for a free wireless connection. I do love this country's standards once in a while.
The dGPU can't be disabled in Windows or Linux due to some Applefuckery.
Oh yeah, I forgot that part. Meh, even on similar Windows-solutions, they're problematic at best. Special drivers that are always at least 10 versions behind, loads of bugs etc.
You should consider upgrading the OS.
he would have already if his dad wasn't a pillock and let him get a 1000 dollar laptop other than a netbook also OSX isn't that bad, i'd just rather use linux or windows [editline]10th August 2011[/editline] i mean macbook not netbook
I like OSX because it's shiny. nowhere near as functional as linux/windows, but come on, it's nice looking
I like OSX because it's shiny. nowhere near as functional as linux/windows, but come on, it's nice looking
why do people keep saying this? What can't OS X do that Linux or Windows can (other than games)
I like OSX because it's shiny. nowhere near as functional as linux/windows, but come on, it's nice looking
7 has more shiny.
I like OSX because it's shiny. nowhere near as functional as linux/windows, but come on, it's nice looking
Just as functional as Linux actually... I use Terminal all the time to do shit I would in Linux, jar unpacking and repacking for example.
