Just as functional as Linux actually... I use Terminal all the time to do shit I would in Linux, jar unpacking and repacking for example.
and you can do that with Windows what I mean to say is that OS X is more locked down than linux and windows in terms of customization [editline]11th August 2011[/editline] and gaming
Yesterday, I turned off my PC and went to bed. Today, I woke up to this.
What does this mean?
What does this mean?
On Google+ he said that it was stuck like that and he wouldn't sleep until it was done, so odds are unless the progress icon is spinning his PC just froze.
I assume it's the update thing, but since it's in a foreign language, it could mean it has made 3/14 cakes for all I know :v:
On Google+ he said that it was stuck like that and he wouldn't sleep until it was done, so odds are unless the progress icon is spinning his PC just froze.
The progress icon was spinning all right, but it didn't do anything for 7 hours, so I just turned it off.
Hey, remember the unlimited detail thing? Here, have an interview with this guys who made this shit. Including real time display of a neutral party playing with it, the explanation of the technology and all that fun stuff like animation. Dat Asus gaymen laptop
If it's getting a half decent framerate on a laptop I'd love to see it on a full Desktop
If it's getting a half decent framerate on a laptop I'd love to see it on a full Desktop
With proper GPU support.
Although, as I've already mentioned - If it really was unlimited power, it wouldn't need any calculations to be done.
Why have i not seen that before
Although, as I've already mentioned - If it really was unlimited power, it wouldn't need any calculations to be done.
It's not so much unlimited power but more removing the poly limit, I do hate how they say unlimited power though.
The only thing I want to know now how much space does the live demo take.
According to Notch, they should have about five storage clusters that each could hold the internet in its entirety in the backroom for storage. I don't know about that.
According to Notch, they should have about five storage clusters that each could hold the internet in its entirety in the backroom for storage. I don't know about that.
except Notch is a terrible programmer and has no idea what instancing is.
According to Notch, they should have about five storage clusters that each could hold the internet in its entirety in the backroom for storage.
If there is a voxel for every filled point in space, that's correct. I doubt they've done that. It would make zero sense.

Even after being shown this video he's still 100% certain that it's fake. They gave a real-time demo, how does that not prove it for him?

"I pulled a game out of my ass that barely works, it sold over 3 million copies, this means I'm a master programmer. Now to criticize other peoples work with my vast knowledge!"

Wow. I'd thought that the "unlimited detail" thing was faked. This is pretty amazing. I hope we'll start seeing this used in games within the next couple of years. Also, Windows XP + IE6.
If there is a voxel for every filled point in space, that's correct. I doubt they've done that. It would make zero sense.
This is what I take the most issue with, he just decided that multiplying the amount of points by eight was a good idea out of fucking nowhere.

Odd.
Happy birthday 343N!!1! [editline]11th August 2011[/editline] Double digits, wow!
I honestly can't wait for that demo. That video explains the things I was wondering about. I'm convinced.
