Either you have an awesome dad, or a poor computer knowledge
Are shooter and me (Both got free macs) the only literate people using macs? There is not much wrong with them, if you get them for free or really cheap.
I got a free Mac too!
My Mac mini got a student discount and stuff yeah
I saw an Asus laptop in the retail store today. I gained some faith in humanity.
my local best buy sells g73's and thinkpads it's like the twilight zone in there, the staff are reasonable, prices are okay and they do price matching, i haven't even seen a geeksquad shirt yet.
At the same time people with english as their native language doesn't expand their language horizon, really, and in the same way as italians, Germans and some other countries that doesn't speak english very well, be stuck either not watching or watching dubbed foreign films.
I'm late but don't is the correct word, not doesn't, for both cases.
Either you have an awesome dad, or a poor computer knowledge
He's an electrical engineer. He needs retraining sure, his knowledge about current software leaves a bit to be desired, but he definitely knows his shit. He works for a company called Sungard availability and he assists with networking of large companies, especially in the wake of a disaster. (He was really busy during Hurricane Katrina.) Way back when in the 70's and 80's he used to be a field repairman for IBM.
English is so easy in my opinion. When I went to Thailand, everybody spoke english. Or well, most of the people we saw. Well, I have been living with english since I was 6 or so. Then my sister started learning english in school. It kinda stuck with me. And the Internet has helped me a lot with english. Mostly runescape :v: And then Yu Gi Yoh cards or whatever they were called. I did not learn a lot of my english from TV.
the extent of the English used by most of the Thai people I have met is "you want buy dvd" I could order McDonalds and buy stuff in supermarkets and they understood me perfectly, they just kinda sucked at speaking the language
I'm late but don't is the correct word, not doesn't, for both cases.
I aknowledged that in a second post, but I didn't bother editing it out. I'm also well aware of the small amount of irony in the situation.
in response to language discussion: foreign countries learning english is why if i move to a european country, (which i totally am going to because america is going to shit no matter how your slice it) i'm going to learn their language just as a courtesy.
I'm computer literate
I disagree
I can't remember when's the last time I've ran any OS in Finnish (voluntarily). And I always use applications in English. Finnish just seems like a weird language in a lot of programs like Firefox.
I disagree
you can be computer literate and like osx, it's a matter of preference and if you want to spend the extra ~600$ (hyperbole probably but i dont give a shit) to get the OS then okay, you can. [editline]11th August 2011[/editline] though i haven't really seen any merit of anton's literateness i just wanted to get that straight
So, Yopu have poor computer knowledge then. Right
Yopu have poor language skills. [editline]11th August 2011[/editline]
you can be computer literate and like osx, it's a matter of preference and if you want to spend the extra ~600$ (hyperbole probably but i dont give a shit) to get the OS then okay, you can.
You see, I have no real opinion on OSX. I've never used it because it's so expensive. I do have an opinion on iOS because I owned an iPod touch for 2 years. When I switched to Android, the difference was night and day.
So, Yopu have poor computer knowledge then. Right
If his dad is a networking engineer(?), then I'm sure that his dad knows a bit more than him.
I aknowledged that in a second post, but I didn't bother editing it out. I'm also well aware of the small amount of irony in the situation.
yeah but there were people, sadly even some native English speakers, arguing that doesn't was correct, and I felt it was best to quote your post.
If his dad is a networking engineer(?), then I'm sure that his dad knows a bit more than him.
Probably, Was trying (and failing) to make a joke, Fixed my post
Probably, Was trying (and failing) to make a joke, Fixed my post
It's okay, I still love you. Though you probably have a point. My dad still uses IE. (Though honestly I think he does only to spite me because occasionally i see him using Firefox.)
It's okay, I still love you.
Same buddy
yeah but there were people, sadly even some native English speakers, arguing that doesn't was correct, and I felt it was best to quote your post.
It's cool. In other news, started what would (age-wise, I think) be second grade in high school. People are nice and so forth, so lets call it a success so far.
I'm attempting to buffer this: (In 720p, slow as fuck connection) <3 you brt for awesome videos And have this open: (As you can see on the left, 6 Mins left) Fucking 1,50 euro per 15 mins internet :arghfist:
Oh my god, I love that :D Thanks for checking out my stuff.
My Windows is Dutch, and actually I only use Microsoft products in Dutch. Just about all other translations suck. :v: For example, I use Firefox in Dutch, which is a pain in the ass because some add-ons are translated HORRIBLY. It's kind of stuck with me, I prefer English over Dutch, except for the OS itself (And Office and Windows Live and such).
The most painful thing is Google thinks Google Translator actually works, so the Android Market automatically translates some things like descriptions and app names into Finglish and often you can't make any bloody sense out of that shit.
I use a custom mashup of different language settings; My GUI is technically only Finnish but I have language packs for practically no software; Terminal interface is English with Finnish date, money etc. settings.
Second year in "Gymnasium"? Third year here in 13 days.
Nope, first. I'm not very informed on how the USA system is built up, really, but I'm pretty sure that first year is 14-15, second 16-17, I may very well be wrong, though. Anyhow, I know people who went to the third year in high school instead of ninth grade in Denmark, so yeah. Where are you going?
Found this on a online teaching website (SCHOLAR), "Higher Computing" section. Funny thing is, while they are talking about JPEG the images are actually GIFs.
