Fuck. Well, Downloading Linux Mint, going to make a Flash Drive install. Okay, I take my flash drive and, IT DOES NOT FIT IN THE USB PORTS!! WEll, okay, extender? Broken. Front ports? Not connected, do not have casing. Fuck. Going to connect them so I can install Mint 11.
At least your computer's not randomly refusing to boot OS installation from both USB and the optical drive. I have no idea what the fuck's wrong with this shit.
Talking to a friend over Skype, and I was like, "Who's vacuum cleaning?" Turns out it was his Macbook Pro's fans. What kind of retarded engineer decided to put the mic right where the speakers are? That's the worst place it could possibly be!
At least your computer's not randomly refusing to boot OS installation from both USB and the optical drive. I have no idea what the fuck's wrong with this shit.
Well, It refused from optical drive alaready. Well, got stuck at installing windows part many times.
At least your computer's not randomly refusing to boot OS installation from both USB and the optical drive. I have no idea what the fuck's wrong with this shit.
Every time I have a dual-boot setup, I notice that about 1/5th of the time, booting takes considerably longer. There is like a 10 second delay between POST and NTLDR.
Burning another install disc. Containing Vista. I just have to try, because if that works I can upgrade Vista to 7. [editline]12th August 2011[/editline] Anyone tried VirtualBox in seamless mode? I'm planning on having a look tomorrow, I've heard promising things.
Anyone tried VirtualBox in seamless mode? I'm planning on having a look tomorrow, I've heard promising things.
VirtualBox's seamless mode is really awesome and fancy. If the guest OS supports it most stuff should work properly.
WTF? Started to install Mint from a flash drive. Well, Bios does not want to recoqnize it. Fuck. And it suddenly boots to XP, fuck. Well, it did not work before. And now suddenly, continues with installation. Weird.
I called Dell support to get a replacement stick of RAM for my brother's Vostro 1510, since the 1 GB stick would prevent it from booting sometimes and cause BSODs, so I removed it and left the 2 GB stick in there. The guy with the heavy Texas accent thanked me for doing all the troubleshooting for him and that this would be the easiest call he's probably going to get. Troubleshooting over the phone is terrible, I can't imagine how stressful that sort of job would be. Then agian, since we got a small-business laptop and bought it through the firm my dad works at, the people calling in would tend to be slightly less retarded.
That's something I like with our laptops. We have "tech-to-tech" support. So when we call, they already know we troubleshooted it. So when they pick up it's more like, what do I need to replace for you. It's so fantastic talking to Dell CS that respect you. [editline]12th August 2011[/editline]
if I worked at or owned a tech support company, I would force clients to install a vnc/rdp program or use teamviewer for support because over the phone tech support must be absolutely horrid
We do that at my work a lot. Either we remote to them, or dell remotes to us.
Content? (http://www.facepunch.com/threads/1115315-I-m-looking-for-a-tablet) The Android tablets can do all of the listed iPad 2 "pro"s, excluding, maybe, the aluminium.
Comedy gold right there. Also [T]http://static.arstechnica.com/honeycombscreens/screenshot6.png[/T] is that a skin or Honeycomb looks like that by default? It's fucking sexy.

Debating with myself about the ethics of forcing a piece of hardware to run Vista.
Apple has just started a program to recycle old PCs. If the parts are still useful to them, they will also pay you with an Apple gift card.
The Get Started button gave me a 404 :V
tried that apple recycling thing what
A computer in perfect condition with an i7 will only get you $225 from Apple. You could get seven times that much if you just put it in a case with lots of LEDs and put it on Cragslist as an "ULTRA QUAD CORE i7 GAMING PC 13.2 GHZ! MAXES OUT BLACK OPS!".
I gathered that. But do you know if it's from a larger set, or shots from a film?
It's from a FP thread, check GD from a week ago or so.
Huh, Installing Mint from Windows. No shit it did not work before, It was in the broken USB port. Or well, the one PC does not want to see. [editline]12th August 2011[/editline] And windows has some problems with drivers. System process uses 99% of the CPU, sucks ass!

What kind of retarded engineer decided to put the mic right where the speakers are? That's the worst place it could possibly be!
If I remember right, a friend had the same problem. There was some option for the microphone to cancel out hum and other background noise, which seemed to get rid of the noise when he enabled it.
I toggled the wireless switch on my laptop. Xubuntu died and now the shit won't boot. This is getting really fucking old, I can't install Vista, I can't install 7, Xubuntu just fucking died and it's almost fucking midnight.
What is with that it is midnight? 23:52, I should go to sleep in a few minutes, then I could wake up in the morning. BUT MINT INSTALL TAKES ATLEAST 1H MORE BECAUSE MY WINDOWS IS BEING A BITCH AND NOT LETTING ANY PROCESSING POWER TO BE USED BY OTHER APPS! Fuck you XP, fuck you!
Why are you using XP?

For real? That's one of the worst ideas I've ever heard. In other news, I'm going to leave my laptop sitting at that stupid-ass error message overnight, maybe through a miracle it'll finally fucking end up going through.
Why are you using XP?
Old Athlon and a MX440. It is my old pc, it rests in the basement usually. Installing Mint, why through XP? Because XP suddenly worked and I wanted to know if the flash drive even works here. It did not until it suddenly did. I started the install in XP and then saw that there is somebug again and system is using 99% of the CPU. Sucks. Well, It has some Linux Mint Installer on the CD, so I do not know :v:
Wubi? What is that. Well, It has some Linux Mint Installer on the CD, so I do not know :v:
You said you're installing it inside Windows. That means it's Wubi. Wubi installs Mint into a stupid loopback file that resides on your Windows partition. Side-effects: Everything will magically not work, it's going to be slow as fuck and if you want to get rid of Windows at some point, you can't, since the OS is on the same partition as Windows.

Or just close windows and install on a new partion.
Side-effects: Everything will magically not work
The first and last time I tried Wubi it only gave me the default desktop background. Nothing else. I had to hard reboot to even get out.

Wubi is the Big Rigs of Linux. It just doesn't work. Actually, it's worse than Big Rigs, at least Big Rigs is funny.
I wonder how much I can get for my Macintosh Classic II.
This product has a zero-dollar value. PowerON has determined that your product has a zero-dollar fair market value.
