He's confronting him.
Twenty bucks says he gets grounded, all of his money for his pc gets taken away, and we don't hear from him for two months.
That won't happen.
He isn't THAT much of an asshole. I'll be fine. At worst I might be banned from the Mac for a little while, but that isn't that bad.

And with that, Mandrith was never heard of again
And with that, Mandrith was never heard of again
Really, guys. I'll be fine.
He is NOT that much of an asshole to do something like that.
The times I made him out to be like that were all faked stories from last year, before I admitted that I had deliberately exaggerated because I was an attention whore.

Am I late?

I talked to him.
Nothing bad happened to me. I explained to him that Chrome, Steam, along with all the other things that he believes screw up computers, are not like that at all, and I backed myself up with articles I found on the internet.
I can do what I want now, as long as I don't screw anything up badly.
It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. He didn't get angry at all.

I'd do it, but the rest of my family still prefers Mac OSX, so even if I installed it nobody would use it, and I'm getting a PC soon so I wouldn't use it either.
Good news. I just spoke with my mother. She agrees with me about my dad, he doesn't know what he is talking about when it comes to technology. She is letting me do whatever I want on the Mac, as long as I don't get caught by my father.
EDIT:
Also, it seems that for some reason Steam downloads aren't counting towards Comcast's bandwidth cap.

Who the fuck cares about your computer nazi dad?

Oh... good. Glad you got that solved.

Get on Steam, I wish to add you.
Found a MBP Core Duo 15" on ebay for £1 (+ £10 shipping) sold as FAULTY, but the guy says that it chimes and then just greyscreens. Think it's worth a bid to see if it's fixable?
Let me guess, it's an auction.
There are plenty of them out there with low starting price like that, not sure why you're making a big deal out of it
Good for you, now get windows installed on that shiny pile of crap!
That would be far too drastic. Negotiating with parents is like negotiating with terrorists with hostages - you start slow, build up some trust. For instance, install (but don't set as default) Chrome or Firefox. Or install Steam and download a few games, but don't set it to auto-launch (so when the inevitable "problem happens, blame newest software" occurs, you can say "but it isn't even running right now").
Did Steam just go down for anyone else?
Sorry folks - one more round of server maintenance is starting now. Should be over quickly!
Am I the only one in CIPWTTKT that checks the Steam support lines for downtime? Fuck, I have their Twitter sent to my phone.
Get on Steam, I wish to add you.
You're already on my friends list.

Steam just spewed a runtime error at me, crashed Spiral Knights and now Steam won't open

I don't have a twitter so yeah :v:
Steam is working fine for me.
EDIT:
Also, I apologize for my attention whoring the past few weeks.

Steam goes down more than the average hooker.

that was v8 we can't do that
comcast probably has their own Steam distribution servers so that it doesn't count toward your cap
Oh, thats good then. I won't have to worry about hitting the data cap when I download all my games now.
EDIT:
How long does it usually take for Steam to distribute an update after a developer submits it?
I wish laptops could be custom built as easily as desktops.
What's more is, they also apparently don't count almost any sort of torrenting. I had 160GB in a month of torrents, up and down (Linux Distros, of course) and I checked my Comcast monthly usage, and it was at 8GB. It even said 'Over the past 26 days', since I checked on the 26th of that month.

I think we're steadily moving away from that possibility.

I glued a monitor to a workstation does that count? :downs:

Don't forget to glue a battery!

Thats great. I can pretty much download all I want now as long as it is through a torrent or Steam.

Posting from my Asus G73JH
I traded this for my old computer
Phenom II x4 965
8GB of RAM
Radeon HD 5770
I just worked for 5 hours trying to figure out why my map wouldn't run in CSS. Than I just realized that it was because it's name had a space in the middle.
