call me dumb but I don't quite understand how converting a 1080p video to ipod format takes just as long as converting a 576x320 video to the same res I want to watch Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay goddamnit
Basically, the resolution input doesn't matter that much, since it only takes up like 5% of the CPU cycles to do some pixel calculations. Think of it this way, does watching that movie in full screen take 5% CPU while running it at like 25% zoom take 100% CPU. No. The encoding part is the most intensive, so the input resolution really doesn't change anything. [editline]18th August 2011[/editline]
Like having a Ferrari just to brag about it, since you really don't have to drive it unless you like to pay for gas.
Basically. The MARS II has a Triple slot cooler, still 1.5gb of ram, barely a overclock at all, and costs 50% more than two 580's that would have double the memory. Yea, you'd take up like 5 slots, but the MARS II concept doesn't usually reach the "I need this because of my specific situation, not because I want to burn money."
School thinks I'm a hacker because I told everyone https://www.facebook.com isn't blocked and they can't block it because if they block any https:// connections they can't do grades or submit our attendance. I also was using benjgvps's proxy for a little while to get to other websites in school. Teacher was talking about anon and the web irc chat some of them use was blocked, so I got arround it. His jaw hit the floor. I just about hit my face on the desk. He's the networking teacher. Why is he surprised by a proxy.
In preparation for this school year, I removed PHProxy (Which hated some Imgur links) and replaced it with CGIProxy. The link is different, though I added the redirect to the old address at http://bj0.org/pr0xi
I will remember this
Also, if that link gets blocked, try www.benjeffery.ca/cgi-bin/nph-proxy.cgi
it has the word proxy in it, it'll automatically get blocked :(
I like Paul because he like... knew what he was talking about and didn't simply read off random specs like everyone else. Probably some of the best unboxing/review stuff on YT.
I like Paul because he like... knew what he was talking about and didn't simply read off random specs like everyone else. Probably some of the best unboxing/review stuff on YT.
Paul seems calm. this girl seems rushed and nervous.

Is there a way I could easily set up my home computer as a proxy?
This isnt Paul. I WANT PAUL.
I'd take it from that geek
I want one.
I want one.
Looks fragile and awesome
So, I was reading Reader's Digest today, and noticed an article: 8 Ways To Work Faster On The Computer. Now, most of the list was full of sound advice. But, there was one thing that I saw that really caught my eye.
We’re encouraged to come up with lots of different ones for the sake of security, but who can remember them all? One way is to choose an easy-to-recall (but not obvious) base password, then customize it to the site or purpose for which you’re using it, write Adam Pash and Gina Trapani in Lifehacker: The Guide to Working Smarter, Faster, and Better (Wiley, $30). For instance, let’s suppose your favorite song is “Smells like Teen Spirit,” your favorite number is three, and you’ve been asked to create a password for your Yahoo account. You might take the first letters of each word in the song title and combine them with your favorite number and the first two letters of the service: SLTS3YA. Your eBay password would then be SLTS3EB.
No, you're an idiot, and you're a horrible for recommending that as advice to people. your target demographic is middle aged people who probably don't understand computers anyway. (Here's the full article if you're curious anyway.)
This website is fucking awesome: http://www.tim.id.au/blog/tims-laptop-service-manuals/ He has a bunch of laptop service guides and links to other places where you can find them. I was able to get to this state without a single "FUCK!" echoing my room.
Pro-tip for screws: One of those red party cups.
Pro-tip for screws: One of those red party cups.
My screwdriver set has a wire stripper thing, it has a little round finger hole in it so I just use that, works perfect.
I personally use a defective 12" speaker to hold my screws, the only problem I ran into is my mom who decided to do some cleaning She decided she'd stack EVERYTHING in a corner. The speaker was at the bottom of the stack and on top of it was... a HDD It was making some clicking noises before but now it's making some weird music, I have no idea what happened to the insides of this poor thing :v:
the harddrive had sex with the speaker obviously
I use hard drive magnets for screw collecting, real nifty.
small bowl, paper plate.
I had a small thing for drawers kind of like this. I used each of those compartments for each type of screw. Shame I lost that thing. :saddowns:
I just lose my screws :v:
Is there a way I could easily set up my home computer as a proxy?
Install linux would probably be the easiest way. But for windows: http://codescribes.blogspot.com/2007/01/how-to-make-your-own-web-proxy-parts-i.html
He has a bunch of laptop service guides and links to other places where you can find them.
Pssch, you need a sissy manual to take apart a laptop. Real men can takes apart any device and put it back together flawlessly.
Pssch, you need a sissy manual to take apart a laptop. Real men can takes apart any device and put it back together flawlessly.
...And end up with some extra screws when they're done
Do real men loose one screw in the process of reassembling?
