It was too big.
If you were in high school (or whatever Canada's equivalent is) this would make sense.
Well... if you're talking American standards, I'm still in high school. The way we do this here is : 1 year of kindergarten at 5, 6 years of primary school, 5 years of high school and then you're free to do whatever the fuck you want with your studies at 16-17. It's kinda weird how you Americans get out of high school at like, 19 years old while I'm going to have a diploma to do the most depressing job ever : IT. But about the pseudocode thing, I believe doing basic algebra should be enough for you to understand how to name a god damn value and declare if it's an integer or something else yet those people can't do it. I wonder if it's the same for other provinces, I never got to discuss it with another Canadian...
It's kinda weird how you Americans get out of high school at like, 19 years old
...that's odd, most of the kids in my class are going to graduate this year at 17 years old. Some (including me) at 18. I can only assume it's the same for most of the US. apart from that your system is not too dissimilar from ours: Preschool at about 4 ish, Kindergarten around 5, 1-5th grade in elementary school, 6-8th grade in middle (a.k.a. junior high) school, 9-12 at high school. Some school districts do 1-6, then 7-9, then 10-12 for some reason though.
My programming class was basically the teacher reading from a board-provided guide for Actionscript. There were missing examples, some of which I recreated based off images and shared with the teacher, others had to be skipped. Since the assignments were pretty simple, I could go through a week's worth of work in a day. It was a pretty big waste of my time, though I did get 100% in the class.
The closest I got was getting a near-A on my Digital Photography class final (basically string a bunch of photos together in WMM, would've been 99.4% if I had some way to get access to my music collection and put a song in it) after shitting it out in a week and playing the Quake 3 demo for the rest of the three weeks we had.
I still find it strange that my online schooling does NOT have any courses, and never had, for programming or ANYTHING relating to computers.

Maaaan, I want one of those Lego Mindstorms kits. So damn cool, but so expensive..
What are current uses for a joystick? Besides flight sims. I have a $25 gift card for best buy that Im sick of having in my wallet. I dont mind paying a bit over, but I want the thing I get to be worth the extra money. Im only considering a joystick because that's one of the few things at bestbuy within my budget besides a Mouse pad.

Except we get out of High school usually around 17-18 and then go to college/uni.
My school system is weird because we had kindergarten, grades 1-4 as elementary, grades 5-6 as intermediate, grades 7-8 as junior high, then 9-12 as high school. Then uni unless youre dumb.
Virgin media just increased the upload for most northern England cities from 2Mbps to 10Mbps no bandwidth cap. Thought it might be useful for those who have been waiting for it since they got the 100Mbps package. Yay
What are current uses for a joystick? Besides flight sims.
Older shooter games support joysticks if you ever feel masochistic.
I'm putting Doom 1,2, Quake 1,2,3, Fallout 1,2, and Wolfenstein 3d on my thumb drive. Time to show some of my Console gamer friends that old game =/= bad game. It's 8 gigabytes, so I have plenty more space to fill alongside school assignments. Any more suggestions for older games that I can run off of it?
Age of empires 2/Jedi knight/Unreal tournament all work off a flash drive. I wasted so much time in my web development class playing age of empires 2 over lan with three friends, some days I'd forget I was in class Was a bad idea though, don't do that.
Fallout 1/2, while good games, might be bad examples - the gameplay hasn't aged well. Anyway, while you've got ZDoom on your flash drive, get the WADs for Heretic and Hexen.
Don't forget Descent 1, 2, and 3 :v:
Excellent games, but they would probably play better with a joystick that he might not be able to bring.
I'm actually having a problem running Quake solely off of my thumb drive. I get this error that says it can't find steam when I try to execute WinQuake. Any idea on how to fix this?
pepper just beat me at quake live, ok, im really emberassed and im sorry but i wanted you to hear it from me first
pepper just beat me at quake live, ok, im really emberassed and im sorry but i wanted you to hear it from me first
Shadaez what the shit, I can't stop watching your avatar. It's just too fucking mesmerizing.
Excellent games, but they would probably play better with a joystick that he might not be able to bring.
What, no Descent plays best with keyboard/mouse in my experience.
What, no Descent plays best with keyboard/mouse in my experience.
Mouse and keyboard 4 lyfe.
pepper just beat me at quake live, ok, im really emberassed and im sorry but i wanted you to hear it from me first
I was about to say this. Anyways, I recently got an android phone and swype is the coolest thing ever. So much faster than a normal software keyboard
Mouse and keyboard 4 lyfe.
I can't play Descent worth a shit on keyboard and mouse. I'm 200% better at it with a joystick.
I can't play Descent worth a shit on keyboard and mouse. I'm 200% better at it with a joystick.
Mouse + Keyboard + Joystick masterrace. fuck controllers.
Controllers fall into a strange middleground where they offer less precision and control in things like FPS's than a mouse does, but also less in games like flight sims or racing games than a joystick/wheel would. It really is a case of jack of all trades master of none.
