I like controllers for games like GTA IV and stuff. What I love most about controllers is that you have everything right at your fingertips, where with a keyboard you sometimes have to move your hands across the keyboard to reach a key.

Some games does flow very well with controllers. Games like Mirrors Edge and Assassins Creed just feels better with a controller to me

That's why I get them for the xbox.

Only if the game has a retarded keymap and you're too lazy to change it.
You have about 16 keys around the WASD keys that can be mapped if you include 1-4 and even more if you have extra buttons on your mouse, which you almost have to go out of your way not to get in a modern mouse.
If you need much more then a controller becomes a worse choice. On a controller you have 4 face buttons, 2 shoulder buttons, 2 triggers, 2 stick buttons and 4 directions on a Dpad. That's 14 buttons to map things to, and as I said a keyboard has about 16 keys at about a one key distance from the WASD keys.
Edit:
But I do admit to using my logitech gamepad for driving in GTA and similar games, but aiming is terrible unless you use auto aim which is easymode. Still a wheel would be much better.
Actually, I tend to use my controller more than my mouse and keyboard when playing games. Except for the typical "mouse and keyboard genres".
Yeah I'll agree that games like Assassins creed work well with a controller because there's no real precision aiming required, but as soon as that precision is required analog sticks just don't cut it.
Flight sims is hell with a gamepad in dogfights, it just doesn't offer the precision needed to align the plane to shoot accurately like a joystick does. Same with racing games, it's fine for driving around in GTA but when driving at speeds around a track a wheel offers entire new levels of control and precision.

To repeat myself, controllers really are a clear cut case of jack of all trades master of none.

I don't play racing games nor flight sims. Shooters generally work better with mouse and keyboard because of what you said, and RTS games just don't work.
Although in the end, I guess it's mostly a matter of personal preference.

An argument [del]on the internet[/del] about controllers ended in a peaceful resolution and agreement between both parties.
I think I need to lie down for a while.

I don't really own any console myself and I used to use only mouse and keyboard. I thought controllers were shit and mouse+keyboard superior. But when someone urged me to try one, I bought a 360 controller and I've been using it and liking it since.
Although, I have to say the number one reason why I would recommend a (360) controller to any PC gamer is for the bad console ports that are otherwise decent games. For example, Prototype, Star Wars The Force Unleashed, Darksiders...
Maaaan, I want one of those Lego Mindstorms kits. So damn cool, but so expensive..
I have two, and they are awesome :D

Can I have one?
Can I have one?
Nope :D
It's way to much fun to build a robot out one of them and a remote out of the other and then code them in NQC (Not Quite C)

Can we have pics if we way please ?

Sure, i'll get some pics.
They should make a mouse with analog mouse buttons that make your PC go faster the harder you click it.
I bet that would make a lot of people very happy. :v:

Code them in NQC? The ones I have are "coded" trough a program by Lego by dragging and dropping lego blocks representing functions.
Controllers fall into a strange middleground where they offer less precision and control in things like FPS's than a mouse does, but also less in games like flight sims or racing games than a joystick/wheel would. Clitmouse master race.
I used to have a joystick I stuck behind my keyboard, I lost it though. It made playing games that were easier with it easier because of the location, and you could switch from mouse to it pretty fast.

Alright, so we've evacuated the coast and the hurricane shouldn't hit too hard in Philadelphia.
Hopefully.
A LITTLE content from a teacher :
He somehow thinks LGA 775 is the latest tech from Intel, he also thinks AMD lives off making rip-off Intel processors
what the fuck
I guess the heat does that to you, AC doesn't work and it's 30°C+ in there...
Oh and pseudocode, FUCKING PSEUDOCODE. It's so god damn simple yet almost everyone in my class took 1 hour to write something that picks up a Celcius imput from the user and converts it to Farenheit (the teacher even gave the function you needed for it). They couldn't define the god damn variables...
I feel stupid, because I don't know jack shit about programing and I'm probably gonna be one of those people who spends an hour to write it.

I might be able to use one within the next month or so once I get my business's site up and running.
