I know it's supposed to be funny and I think the screen was cracked before he started but part of me feels like he's just wasteful. Those ram sticks, the optical drive, processor, possibly entire mobo, trackpad, keyboard, wireless NIC, speakers aaaaaaand quite possibly something else I forgot to mention could be sold as spare parts for someone to use who really needed it.
Then again I know shit about apple products so that thing could be a decade old for all I know.
Just got back my motherboard, they received it on the 22nd and I got it back just now on the 27th, great support from ASRock.

It looked as though it was broken already, I don't think it would have made much difference. I'm pretty sure it's not hard to find RAM for that model, and about the rest, well, you normally buy a new laptop instead of changing a motherboard in a 3 year old one.
His HDD died too.

Ok thanks
I just use a tissue
So ok gonna get the rubbing alcohol and stuff. I'm swapping out CPUs because my current one might be screwed up. Is there anything I have to do before installing my old Athlon II?
So I'm trying to play Minecraft with a friend but the site is down and oh-so-smart Notch decided it would be a good idea to host the website and the log in authentication on the same server. So if the site goes down, the game pretty much does as well. Fuck. And he's not going to fix it. Why? Well, this:
I'm unable to do anything about the site being down, sorry. :( Stuck at PAX
THEN GET SOMEONE ELSE TO DO IT, DAMNIT :argh:
He should really hire someone to maintain the server when he's not there to do it, I think.

Wait, Minecraft is suddenly up. wat

I was a bit shocked to notice that I am as well, didn't notice I posted that much.
So applying thermal paste = pea size amount on CPU then place heatsink atop it?
[editline]27th August 2011[/editline]
Oh shit some of the thermal paste formed another drop at the edge of the CPU. Do I use qtips to get it off?
How the fuck am I posting that much?

Well I just used an unused credit card to gently move it toward the middle. PC started up fine.

Hopefully my Phenom II is bad and not the motherboard because wouldn't it be easier to RMA/replace a CPU compared to a motherboard?
