My homework for the week-end :
- Make a build list for a computer
Wow. They even give us 2 weeks to do it...
My one week homework was to download Ubuntu and Virtual Box but NOT install since we will do that in a group so we don not fuck up
I also know that the teacher hates going this slow. 99 % of the class could easily do it in 2 min (not counting install time) but then we have one or two retards
No limit, they give us a motherboard (LGA 775 of course) and a case :v:
Since newegg.ca is a bitch and doesn't carry the Q9xxx series anymore, I went with a E8400 and a decent cooler to do some EXTREME OVERCLOCKING
Don't forget LEDs. Gotta have dem LEDs
Anyone else connect certain websites with other websites in their mind?
For example, after reading a certain article on Hackaday, now I always get an urge to check the deal of the day on woot.com when I go to read Hackaday.
10 minutes and it's done, an E8400 and a GTX 550 Ti might be a little overkill for what the teacher wanted :v:

Why 550Ti?
Isn't the 6850/6870 cheaper and better?

Yep but he's an Intel/NVIDIA fanboy so I'm going to follow his rules.

Oh wow he saved it in .docx
I can't wait for all the people telling him they can't open it because they're still using Office 2000 on Windows XP

That reminds me I haven't even installed Office yet.
Hide yo' XP, hide yo' 03 R2, they coming for you

Edit:
Looked into it a bit.
It attacks a machine by trying to login as Administrator with a bunch of weak-ass passwords.
I wouldn't worry.
I am glad that Paul is back doing the NeweggTV youtube channel.

Oh, so no need for me to switch my server to linux like I've been thinking about doing for a while now?
Remember when graphics cards (even the great ones) took up only one slot, and you didn't have to fucking cut a hole in your case to make it fit?
Remember when games weren't graphically sophisticated?
Oh, so no need for me to switch my server to linux like I've been thinking about doing for a while now?
Oh you absolutely still have to do that or I'll stick a good ol' 32" CRT up your /dev/backdoor
Remember when games weren't graphically sophisticated?
Remember when nostalgia used to be better?
Remember when nostalgia used to be better?
Remember when the 90's were 10 years ago.

2009?
Remember when the 90's were 10 years ago.
Remember when the 90's were the present?
Remember when we had content on a regular basis
Remember when we had content on a regular basis
No.
Holy crap remember I switched out my Phenom for my old Athlon because of BSOD problems and that Athlon was running at 25 Celsius? Well running Chrome and Steam it's hovering at 22-24 Celsius!
Oh you absolutely still have to do that or I'll stick a good ol' 32" CRT up your /dev/backdoor
But WAMP and Filezilla FTP server are running so well...
Remember when games weren't graphically sophisticated?
Remember when every other piece of technology became smaller yet increasingly powerful?
But WAMP and Filezilla FTP server are running to well...
Do it or I'll punch you so hard, you wish you were in /dev/null
But WAMP and Filezilla FTP server are running to well...
Both of those have linux counterparts, which are extremely easy to set up.
I'll get round to it eventualy, It was originaly meant for playing old games, and act as a dev webserver on top of that. Now I have my Duron rig I don't really suppose I need to keep windows.
I have 3 identical linux boxes in my closet (Celeron D (Single core, 2GHz, Socket 478), 1GB RAM) which one runs a minecraft server on ocasion, and another run a webserver. The other two are just lonely running nothing all day erry day. What should i do with them?

Porn servers?
seedbox and caching proxy
Remember when every other piece of technology became smaller yet increasingly powerful?
They've been getting increasingly powerful, but using that and just making it larger for even more power.
To be fair though, the cards aren't really getting that much larger, it's the coolers that are growing in side mostly.
Porn servers?
Give the Celeron D to me :D
Or donate SODRAM
Give the Celeron D to me :D
I've got plenty of socket 775 Pentium 4's and socket 478 Celeron D's,
But do you have any idea what shipping costs NL -> New Zealand costs :v:
[editline]28th August 2011[/editline]
Also what is this i don't even:
I think I seen something though that the Agility is limited to 300MB/s with SATA II. I do have two 6GB/s ports though, their not called SATA III though just SATA 6GB/s and I need to enable IO level up 6GB/s in the Bios which slows down the PCI lane I'm sure. But I've not got a mega fast graphics card since I don't play games.
SATA3 slowing PCI(e probably) lanes down? :v:
