Me neither, but Vista had issues with me.
There we have it. Vista hate is just isolated incidents or bandwagon hate. [editline]31st August 2011[/editline] But personally, Windows 7 does everything windows vista does, then does it better, making it more clean and tidy. I would love to install Windows 7 soon, once I get my hands on a copy of it.
oh damnit, I thought that was an SE version. Silly my. I guess I'll just buy the zotac one again
is my 5770 bottlenecking my E4600? when playing deus ex I can go into the sewers and get a nice stable 40-50fps on the lowest settings, then bump it up to the highest settings with MLAA, tesselation and all of that nice dx11 jazz and still get 40-45 fps, but when I get near a single NPC everything lags the fuck out [editline]31st August 2011[/editline] I know the e4600 is shit, I should be getting a 2500k for christmas, but is it bottlenecking that's making things bad or just the processor in general?

Solution: Upgrade or Overclock
How i miss the days where we actually regaled ourselves with stories of computer-illiterate people.
There we have it. Vista hate is just isolated incidents or bandwagon hate.
How can you make the claim that my dislike against Windows Vista is "bandwagon hate". I did in fact have genuine problems with Vista few years back. I can list few now. - Neither of my webcams worked. Drivers or without. - Media buttons did not work on my keyboard with Vista. - Windows Update would freeze from time to time, with decent enough hardware. (This was later fixed by formatting and re-installing) - Problems setting up backup. But most of the time it did great. You just kinda get stuck on those few bad expieriences.
who is Jeremy Miller :v:

This isn't exactly a case of computer illiteracy but i had a good laugh about it. A few months ago i got my MacBook, and as soon as i found the Command Terminal, i downloaded a remote SSH app for my iPod Touch. Then, upon visiting my grandmother, i left my laptop unattended, and when she went and sat next to it at the table, with a cup of tea, i sat in the other room and made it say something along the lines of "hey that smells good can i have some?" She was stunned.
I'm wondering why everyone hates vista. I mean, I'm pretty good with computers, but still learning the basics of internal computer workings. From a consumer standpoint, Vista does everything I really need it to and I haven't had any major problems with it. What is it that causes everyone to hate it?
Well I can't speak for everyone else, but at first I didn't hate it. It was slow as hell but I thought that was just because it was newer and therefore needed more power to be better. Didn't stop me from installing another OS on top of it at the time though (I would have slapped it on my desktop computer but it was one of those OEM keys from a laptop that won't go on any other hardware ever. plus I don't think we had Vista discs). Win7 rolled around. Someone gave me a spare Win7 key off his MSDN account, and a spare Vista key because I didn't (and still don't) have a DVD drive and the last Windows to have CD images was Vista. I installed Vista. A bit slow, yes, but the target computer was a bit better in hardware. I installed Win7. HOLY SHIT THE COMPUTER WAS BLAZING. As an experiment, I dug up the old computer I initially had Vista on. Installed it - slow as fuck, just as I remember it. Installed Win7 on top - suddenly lightning speed. It was then I learned that Vista was an unoptimized, slow piece of shit. (And for the record, Win7 no SP still runs faster than Vista SP1 on two computers.) That is why I hate it.
555 or 555 BE? I have an unlocked 555 BE, shit's so cash.
It's a 555BE, overclocks really really well (like 3.8+) with coreunlock off, but the unstable cores mean I have to jack it down a bit to use stock voltage. Might fiddle with it some more later.
I literally cracked up laughing reading that. It's like our school computers still running XP. Why not switch to 7, or even vista? What affinity do technology-incapable people have with XP?
There is actually some good reasons for them not switching: 1) The cost of buying the licensing 2) The downtime on the systems while it's set-up 3) The upgrades in hardware required to run new OSs (my ex-school had quite a lot of old computers that could barely run XP. 7 isn't going to be helping them 4) A lot of schools use a lot of old software (likely win 98 era software, but just luckily works on XP), so they'd have to find replacements for a lot of it 5) They'd have to re-make all computer related tutorials on the network, so that they show how to do things in the new OS. While it is probably going to be identical, aside from the visual look and the control panel, schools have a LOT of dumb people in it, that would probably flip out and say they've got no idea how to do something if their taskbar was a different colour. Now of course, you could argue that they could just switch a few of the newer most used computers (that actually have made for windows 7 stickers on them), but then the IT department (consisting of one person, that I don't like) would have to manage two OSs, which is more work for him, so of course he'd shoot down any upgrades the school asks if are possible.

I imagine they had a lovely huge government grant to blow!

I need help overclocking my c2d then, it's at 2.4ghz stock and I can get it to 2.9ghz and it's fine for playing most things unless it's on for ages. I can't get it past 3ghz, and I don't know why. [editline]1st September 2011[/editline] by that I mean the bios resets if it goes past 3ghz
Damn it, why can't games do bloom right? It usually seems to just be a blurred version of the current image overlayed ontop of the screen..It makes it look like ass, like you're using a cheap cellphone camera. Why not just make it so only certain surfaces/textures bloom, like bright light sources or self illuminated objects, instead of applying it to the whole image? In fact, I think Aleph One has a feature that allows for this in the OpenGL renderer, and D2X-XL also has a similar feature.. If dinky little source ports of old game engines can do it, why can't modern day AAA game engines?

The laptop I'm fixing for my mom locks up any time the motherboard is flexed. I think the solder is bad, so I'll probably have to contact the ebay seller. If I can't get a new one, I'll need to run it through the oven.
