Fuck yeah, Android phone, Finally! Huawei U8500, maybe not the best but yeah Sister got a Sony-Ericson Xperia X8 and father Samsung Galaxy Ace.
That phone doesn't look bad at all. ZTE Blade Master race!
speaking of school issued laptops, only the lower years (7, 8 and 9) get eee PCs in my new school, which makes no sense to me because us year 11's and the year 10's that are just starting their GCSE's could benefit from them more :tinfoil:
norton is actually a good idea, if the type of people that browse facebook and play farmville are getting these computers then they're incredibly prone to viruses which the IT guys at your school really don't wanna keep sorting out
I told her to ask about the pre installed programs. If i can i'll clean that mess out. I also was thinking of Avast for AV Edit: -There was nothing here, All hail poor Chinese translation -
and then the headmaster spanks his ass, the computer probably has software payed for and used by the school and it isn't just some laptop that he can dick about with as he pleases norton is actually a good idea, if the type of people that browse facebook and play farmville are getting these computers then they're incredibly prone to viruses which the IT guys at your school really don't wanna keep sorting out
If they don't want to sort out viruses, they want an anti-virus that doesn't miss viruses. (Norton is one of the best ones at letting viruses get through) Also, surely Comodo would be best for a school, as from what I've heard, it's more of a whitelist as opposed to a blacklist? (I'm probably being monumentually dumb here)
[sp]It's also has 2 TB of space[/sp]
...

I remember reading a story about that earlier - it's only 16GB. The company claims the technology can scale to 2TB, but they never said it actually holds that much right now. Blame a poor translation from Chinese for the mass confusion.
I had the idea that it would decrease stress on the card somehow, meaning it wouldn't need to be cooled as much. Then again it's a 480, the only thing that could shut this up is more fans :v:
just remove the heatsink and reapply thermal paste
Not sure if i can since it's a school laptop. Worth a try And it's a really nice laptop too. i3, 4 Gb ram when the highest preformance draw will be flash games I jelly, Since my school laptop has a old dual core and 2 gb ram when we do photoshop, video editing and Virtual computers
Oh, I didn't notice it said it's a school PC :v:
is 74 degrees C okay for a 460? And how does Overclocking damage a gpu? Is it to do with the voltage going through it? (Just wondering because of the gmod posts)
You have to love the TF2 voice chat system All it takes for people to be kicked form the server is for 7 guys to sing Bohemian Rhapsody tsk tsk Valve, Improve at once And now we sang still alive and i got dropped half way through. Poor sever, We are killing it with out singing
is 74 degrees C okay for a 460?
Certainly. Furmark pushes mine up to 95c, and it doesn't even artifact or anything. Not exactly healthy but 74 is the highest mine will go during a game, and that's not really that hot for a GPU.

(Just wondering because of the gmod posts)
Overclocking can damage a component because you push more volts through it/make it run faster which causes it to run hotter. With proper cooling it shouldn't be much of an issue as long as you use common sense

I really should dust out my desktop once in a while. :v:
16€ for 500MB data, 200SMS and calls and shit. + a free phone. Sister got that plan.
£10 month for 3GB 100 texts, 100 mins + a booster. + £35 for a T-Mobile branded U8220 Shame T-Mobile UK bought their data caps down to 500MB, once my contract expires I'll go with three.

I highly doubt that. I heard out singing and it was Marvelous
I highly doubt that. I heard out singing and it was Marvelous
Fair do's. On some orange server I was on, someone was playing More Gun on an acoustic guitar. He was so good that the admin kicked him thinking it was micspam.
Mine reached 74 on idle. I really should dust out my desktop once in a while. :v:
Of course it also the depends on what cooler it has. I get unlimited internet for 8,50 a month with T-Mobile NL. And when i travel outside on NL i can get unlimited internet in whole europe for 2 euro extra
Need to install OS on my laptop but can't be arsed. The funny thing is, they replaced the entire bloody laptop, but they actually bothered to pop out the hard drive from the old one and put it in the new one.
Mobile web browser is awesome!

(Just wondering because of the gmod posts)
74C is nothing really. OC'ing can cause massive amounts of heat if you overdo it. Overvolting will kill the chip if you over do that too.
So my sister got a laptop from her school and asked me to take a look at some window that had popped up (Fuck off Norton, I'm not giving you my email) After doing that i saw the poor pc. Bloatware everywhere. I shit you not 25 programs running in the task bar at start vista sidepanel, HP top panel and helpful notifications such as that all the bloatware was installed and that i had turned on the Wifi. I'm pretty sure the lighted icon above the keybord and the icon on the screen would be enough to indicate that
OK, so here's what you do. You ask your sister to ask for the install files and what not for each program. Tell her to say that they're all asking for a reinstall because some new virus fucked the registry or some silly shit, and she has important shit on there that she can't back up so a reimage is not feasible. After that, you perform the usual "clear the bloat" procedures. Then install all her programs (except Norton of course), and hook them up to not start on boot (as minimally as you can anyway, if your school employs a "big brother" application like ours does that's going to want to start on boot if you want your sister to keep her enrollment).
OK, so here's what you do. -words-
I think i'll let here use it for a few days, Then i can see what she uses and then i'll probably know what her school thinks of uninstalling unimportant shit Had an idea of simply having it dual boot into ubuntu. Less ways she can fuck up with viruses and programs. An idea, We'll see
If you with "Big brother" application means an application that looks at the users desktop or watches activity, I've never seen one in my life time on a school computer.
That's what they want you to think :ninja:
That's what they want you to think :ninja:
If it would have existed on my school issued laptop, I would have noticed it. But my Social Sciences teacher is fun. He shouts "razzia" and then everyone with their screens up (normally we have our lids closed when they have a lecture, but since some just can't keep them down) have to keep their hands of the computers so he can look at the screen. No ones been busted yet. Was browsing FP the first time he did it.

I didn't like Unity in 10.04, but from what I've seen, it's changed significantly in just one version. Might be worth trying.
