It's a Sambo thing, I call every European language that isn't English "Europe" too. It's fun asking people if they can translate Europe for me.
If you with "Big brother" application means an application that looks at the users desktop or watches activity
Fun fact: sambo (plural: sambos) is the Swedish word for two people in a relationship living together.
And it's not hard remembering the different languages. We have:
Dutch
German
Spanish
French
English
Swedish
Norwegian
Latvian
Finnish
Russian
Italian
Polish
Danish
Icelandic
And a few more that I know the Swedish word for but not the English one.

Only if you stop pretending to be a part of our great Union.
I don't consider this hellhole part of the Union, that's why English isn't Europe

Reality would disagree with you (stop while you're behind, this is a thread for computer chat/illiteracy).
As for content, I found out that it wasn't my teacher, but everyone around her that's stupid. I asked her why we weren't using latest the free educational version of visual studio, but 2005 that the district bought years ago. She said that she tried to get them to update it, but the IT guys couldn't figure it out (?) and the district was worried about the security and legality of Dreamspark (?!), plus all of the books she was provided were for a decade-old version. At the end, she said that she wanted to stop all of this entirely and just use Linux.

That's because you Brits aren't a part of our great Union, a lot of you just seem to think you are.

Go vote BNP some more.
We're a part of the EU whether you like it or not. Not considering us part of it makes you look a bit dumb.
Besides, EU law imposes a 3 year warrenty on all consumer products :v: so I kinda like being part of the EU.

Speaking of GPU's on fire, having a bit of an issue with my 570. It's fucking awesome and plays stuff like a dream, but games seem to crash when the card hits 82c exactly. Just Cause 2 and Crysis minimize and refuse to come back, and Crysis 2 completely freezes the system. What do? I've got EVGA Precision handling fan speeds which *seems* to solve the crashes, but it doesn't seem like an ideal solution having it running all the time I wanna play something strenuous.
Also, you fellas got any ideas what I can play to show it the fuck off? I've already 3DMarked, and played the aformented games as well as GTAIV, Shattered Horizon, and DiRT3. Would love to see some CUDA stuff.

I don't vote, but I just mean when people say Europe I don't even consider the UK as a part of it.

can we stop with the europe stuff because it's getting a little out of hand

You want to stop all of Europe?

Which language is it that has all the different words for technology? For example, english "battery" could mean "rechargable battery" (AKA laptop batteries) and "disposable battery" (Flashlights, Gameboys, etc.). The language I'm thinking of has different words for each of them.
[editline]1st September 2011[/editline]
I don't remember if it was Dutch or Finnish.
School internet decides to work.
Jesus.

No idea what the words were though

Is it a stock 570? Or does it have an aftermarket cooler?
Pepper;32068193']I think it was finnishNo idea what the words were though
We should seriously come up with some better word for technology. Program is sort of annoying (I'm running a program to do this/I'm programming to do this), battery (as stated before), and some other words I could probably think of when they come up.Problem is, it's really hard to forcibly change words or create different ones.
I never thought I'd come to this but...
I'm bored because college is too fucking easy.
Boolean algebra is just high school stuff we didn't learn because our education system is fucked up
Introduction to computers is just "hey guys give us the specs of x computer, you have 2 weeks to do this!"
Files and databases is just "create a database in Access and give it the right value type lolololol"
Programming is just pseudocode (FUCKING PSEUDOCODE)
I hope it gets a little more interesting in the next term...
oh hey NZ government is being a tard.

I don't really see a problem with this, I don't pirate things anyway, and putting harsher penalties could help
of course this will be rated dumb because everyone on fp pirates

:colbert:
I personally think Gabe N is spot on on the matter of pirating games, giving customers good service (Steam) will probably make them think twice before starting a search on isoHunt or TPB. What's the point in spending twice as much time pirating and cracking a game when I can just open up Steam and buy it for 5$ on a sale.
Plus you get the community stuff, I know one dude who almost never buys games (he only ever bought Minecraft and pre-ordered Skyrim) and he's so forever alone, no one plays with him because there's no way to track where he is / chat with him.
The problem with this NZ policy is how they monitor traffic, do they actually check what you're downloading or is their policy "hurr all P2P downloads are illegal durr"?
