Looks like the thread died, time for some CPR content : The guy who's supposed to teach us about hardware and operating systems is actually a network engineer who knows absolutely nothing about hardware & operating systems. Everything he says is based on what Cisco puts on their netacad and for those of you who use it, it's pretty fucking horrible. It's nothing major, just a few things like the fact he considers "ammount of RAM = performance" as a good rule of thumb or how he doesn't make the difference between Mb and MB so when he tells us the speed of an interface it's all fucked up because Cisco mixes them up in their Power points. I have to spend 5 hours a week in that class and all those little things are starting to get on my nerves even though it's only been 2 weeks. That, pseudocode and the fact we're going to learn Java soon makes me want to :suicide:
netacad isn't that bad, you just have to have a good instructor to go with it
I COME WITH GIFTS OF CONTENT FROM AMD: http://www.facepunch.com/threads/1123171
Hard coded minimum requirements? Now that's insanely stupid.
Well when you consider it's hard coded to be fairly low, it's not TOO bad. But this is the only game I can't play, and this is probably the only reason why. Still, newer games tend to run pretty damn slow...I need a new computer.
Well that was interesting I just had to free my sister from her own bedroom :v: The doorknob fell off and I had to take the whole other side off, then turn it with a screwdriver
Well that was interesting I just had to free my sister from her own bedroom :v: The doorknob fell off and I had to take the whole other side off, then turn it with a screwdriver
I read that post way too fast in a very wrong way.
There are three moths flying in my room right now [editline]6th September 2011[/editline] And one of them killed itself with style by flying into my power supply. [editline]6th September 2011[/editline] I also like pie
Months can fly?
It can if you try hard enough
http://www.asus.com/Notebooks/Versatile_Performance/K53TA/ This for $550 for the A6/66500, opinions? It's not for me, for a friend.
It's good
Apparently Firewire is a port used for high speed video and audio devices in my computer class.
Apparently Firewire is a port used for high speed video and audio devices in my computer class.
I havn't seen a windows computer with a Firewire port built into the motherboard or a Firewire expansion card yet.
I havn't seen a windows computer with a Firewire port built into the motherboard or a Firewire expansion card yet.
Most laptops have one.
Apparently Firewire is a port used for high speed video and audio devices in my computer class.
It is, and it's faster than USB 2.0
Apparently Firewire is a port used for high speed video and audio devices in my computer class.
There's the real joke
There is firewire on my Asus mobo. Which is coo, then I don't have to take up a PCI slot
One of my external HDD's has two Firewire sockets, is that to daisy chain them? [editline]6th September 2011[/editline]
It is, and it's faster than USB 2.0
Oh well, atleast Apple can still be hipsters using it, they wouldn't want it become too mainstream would they?

Just a quick question, what do you think of these specs? I need a laptop for school, but it would be nice if I would also be able to play games on it. My primary game is League of Legends, but I would like to know if it's suitable for gaming really.
Are you kidding me?
I know there are a lot of threads for this, so I didn't want to make another thread to get silly reactions. I'm sorry if it's in the wrong thread, because I don't know the meaning of the title. It was just a quick question.

Woops, missed the right thread for quick questions. But I don't know a lot about specifications on laptops, only really basic stuff. Thanks anyway.
But what brand is it? Dell and HP among others, tend to have a pretty crappy build quality
But what brand is it? Dell and HP among others, tend to have a pretty crappy build quality
I don't know, my inspiron 1720 seems pretty solid. It was £700 new, though.
Well, i'm not saying ALL of Dell's or HP's computers suck
Both brands have some good eggs
