English as a second language is mandatory, and gymnasium students also need to choose a third mandatory language (chinese, french, german and spanish(depending on what the school offers)), plus greek or latin. Four languages.
I didn't do French or German. I only had English, Dutch and Greek.

what do you need 32GB for anyway? $1,200 is quite a bit to be spending on ram :v:
There's much cheaper 8GB DDR3 sticks if you don't look on Newegg, I think (hope) he was joking about getting those.
actually maybe im illiterate and those were for servers or something
[editline]13th September 2011[/editline]
either way, I hope he doesn't do it, if you wait a little I'm sure 8GB DIMM will drop way below what they are now.
I don't need 32gb. Also those are new because they are normal desktop modules you can run on a sandy bridge board, not server modules. I'm running 16gb now of that 1.25 volt sniper ram and it's great. My next system will probably still be 16gb since I have this ram already.
i think 1-3rd graders shouldn't have to be burdened with that, they're too young.
English or German is compulsory starting from the 3rd grade (9 years) in Finland. What are you on about?

Only English in Sweden. But German isn't so hard to understand anyway.

What the hell?
I made a little thread about educating spazmatic video gamers, if you want to take a look and help me out.
Man, I must be in the good part of America or something. You have to take at least one year of a foreign language to graduate middle school (you need either three years of one or two years of two to graduate "with honors" - I did three years of Latin). High school, you needed something more - I don't remember, since my three years from earlier was enough to graduate.
Most schools offer German, French, Spanish and Latin. Many also throw in Chinese, Japanese, Russian or Italian. Most of them go up to year five; some of the less common ones only go to three years.
Plus, the non-honors students actually have to take two English classes at once in grade 6 - one specifically to cover the basics of English.
Ahaha, apparently last years web dev teacher made them do everything on geocities, and he didn't know what the hell he was doing and was constantly googling examples.

Help! somebody give me IE, the shiny is blinding!

English or German is compulsory starting from the 3rd grade (9 years) in Finland. What are you on about?
wow alright so first to second graders shouldn't
one year is not that big of a deal, however i feel 6 and 7 year olds (1st and second grade, when they start) are too immature to focus on a second language while still learning their own
[editline]13th September 2011[/editline]
i've taken German for 3 years now
[editline]13th September 2011[/editline]
also i should note we were forced to take both Spanish and French for one trimester in 6th grade. then in 7th grade we were given a choice between Spanish, French, and German. i didn't go to the school in 7th grade, so i started German 1 in 8th grade instead. foreign language is a "core" class, i.e. it's required as much as a math or science class
Only English in Sweden. But German isn't so hard to understand anyway.
Your languages aren't that different, really.
I know because Swedish is complusory as well :v:
(Okay, the grammar is different. A lot at times. But the words tend to be somewhat similar.)

Some words are similar and some of the structure is similar. Generally, You can understand.
Trying to speak or doing any kind of grammer was where i failed. Too bad those parts was something like half of the grade

I took two years of spanish, two years of french, and a year of latin in high school alone, I really don't understand why everyone thinks we're no good at language
[editline]13th September 2011[/editline]
and hell I took a year of spanish and a year of french in middle school and 2 years of spanish in elementary school
I didn't do French or German. I only had English, Dutch and Greek.
It's either French, German, Spanish or Chinese in atheneum, and French, German, Spanish, Chinese, Greek or latin in gymnasium then right?

In a few years this will be standard :v:
Got ungrounded today. :toot:
I bring content from Comp Ed again!
I somehow start a discussion over schools needing to upgrade their computers, nearly everyone says get a Mac, I counter with Windows 7 and state some obvious reasons why, macfags continue wanting Macs, then the teacher replies with, get this, "Why fix what ain't broken?" They're broken, outdated, shit, and many more reasons. I'm TRYING to get them fixed because it IS broken.

Would you stop fucking calling them Macfags? Jesus, that is a fucking cunt move.

It'll be hilarious reading back on some of these posts in a few years. Especially those recommending high budget builds.
Took spanish from kinder-5th, in 9th now and I can barely remember any of it because I never used it. I bet I could pick all of it back up if I went to mexico for a month.

I'm a Mac user. We're all not retard like you think stop with the stereotype, but yeah I'll admit a ton of Mac users are very very retarded (90% of them are on Mac Rumors). I've used Macs all my life up until three years ago but I will always own at least one Mac since I have the money to have one and I am much more familiar with them.
There is no difference between Macs and PCs except for the OS. Hate on the OS, not the hardware or the users.

Ok. Those are the worst people to ever exist. They're the ones giving the smart Mac users a bad name.
it's those "macfags" that ruin it for the rest of us mac users

I swear, Newegg is reading my mind.
2 days ago, I was looking at a receiver for my car
Today it's on the daily deals with 40$ off
God damnit it's so tempting :smith:
But it's also pretty useless since the front speakers don't even work...
Ok. Those are the worst people to ever exist. They're the ones giving the smart Mac users a bad name.
unfortunately that's what saturates 90% of my school
the other 10% who don't like macs play games on consoles so i can't find anyone i know to play any steam games with me
but really i do like apple's computers, the imacs are nice for those who don't want to put up with the big ass tower that usually goes with a computer, macbook airs are incredibly sexy, and mac minis are nice for media centers. they're just a little expensive for my taste and i absolutely hate the company itself with a burning passion for going on that suing rampage about a month back and trying to knock out all of their rivals with bullshit patents that shouldn't have been accepted in the first place
