My sister is dead set on buying a new mac tomorrow
i've steered her away from the macbooks (heat problems) and now she wants an imac
does the 21.5" imac have sandy bridge i5s?
Also can i go for the lowest option for RAM in the apple shop then buy a RAM kit and upgrade it?

Oh sorry, but those are i5-2310's or something.
Okay so they're SB i5s
Is the RAM standard laptop DDR3?
[editline]15th September 2011[/editline]
also do they still have this problem
Pepper;32302431']Okay so they're SB i5s

They are DDR3-1333 204 Pin SO-DIMM's, but apple tries to sell them for 3x the price as Apple verified ram.
OK, good
I'll try get the lowest option for RAM on it and buy a 2x4GB kit on ebuyer
[editline]15th September 2011[/editline]
this kit
http://www.ebuyer.com/191220-corsair-8gb-2x4gb-ddr3-1333mhz-laptop-memory-kit-so-dimm-cmso8gx3m2a1333c9
do they still have that stupid HDD problem?
It might be a pain in the ass installing it.
I mean with the connector.
also would photoshop CS5 support the 6750M for GPU acceleration?
OSX drop's shadows on all windows, he just has a white background so it shows.
And yet, in the quote above, you can clearly see the screenshot has a transparent background
And yet, in the quote above, you can clearly see the screenshot has a transparent background
Then i have no fucking clue.

It has OpenCL and Stream so my guess would be yes.
Hyper 212+ is out of stock. Should i get a H60 or a different cooler?
In order of preference (for me)
Gelid Tranquillo, Thermaltake Frio, Akasa Venom, Be Quiet! Dark Rock Advanced
For slightly higher budget (but far better cooling):
H60, Kuhler 920, NH-D14, Be Quiet! Dark Rock PRO!
Then i have no fucking clue.
OSX automatically adds a shadow when you take a screenshot of a single window.

Does it really have to overdo it so much? It's fucking massive.
-Snip- Wrong thread.

Well, the amount of money you payed for it isn't really expressed through what hardware or software it has, so it just has to overcompensate in any way it can, like that silly fanfare when you open Safari for the first time. (I think it's to keep the more simple users entertained)
IM SO Borrred
guess ill go try and start on a PC case i want to make

Jesus christ, that drop shadow looks awful.
Jesus christ, that drop shadow looks awful.
It doesn't even have a point of origin, really, unless the light is directly on it, only a few inches away.
Pepper;32302344']Also can i go for the lowest option for RAM in the apple shop then buy a RAM kit and upgrade it?
Yes. In my MBP it was as simple as unscrewing the bottom plate.
In the iMac, Apple uses the 1333MHz 204-pin SO-DIMM laptop stuff.
And yet, in the quote above, you can clearly see the screenshot has a transparent background
No, it doesn't just appear in screenshots taken. It's actually the window shadow, and it appears on any non-maximized window.
Does it really have to overdo it so much? It's fucking massive.
It's not really so bad in real use.
I'm all for eye candy, as long as I can turn it off if it impairs functionality (the Dock).
Yeah, atleast I can tell the dock to GTFO on college Macs, it takes up a stupid amount of space all while being less funtional than the windows superbar.
Jesus christ, that drop shadow looks awful.
but it's ~artistic..//#
I was content when assembling a computer for my friend. The cables for the power switch etc. wasn't all the way in so they didn't make a connection on the motherboard :saddowns:
And installing Windows 7 right now on said computer. For the second time. I had split up the HDD in two partitions, and forgot that the partition you have selected will be the C: drive. Said and done, had to reinstall it all over again.
I really feel bad for you guys in schools with shit IT and teachers. Our IT guy is a burly bearded Canadian from British Columbia that sometimes dresses up as a lumberjack. I'm not kidding. He's also a FacePuncher, though he wont tell me his profile name.
I wasn't really sure how computer literate he was, so I decided to ask him some complicated questions involving networking, general IT, and various other computer related pursuits (things like hexadecimal code, misc. programming terms from languages he said he was familiar with, etc.) He answered every question I asked him correctly.

You may have found Gman
Ask him his thoughts about the RIAA.
It's a surefire way of finding Gman, his (perfectly justified) rage will blot out the sky.
