It's not nice if you know it's shit.
Run some proper benchmarks, after that you can be glad you bought the rig.
So i just installed some updates (My win7 dvd came with sp1 preinstalled) and then when rebooting it just got stuck on fase 3 of 3, configuring windows thingamajingy. I had to do a system restore to earlier tonight. Should i do anything else before attempting to reinstall these again?

Oh the joys of a new pc :v:

Windows copy dialog in a nutshell.

More importantly, why aren't you using Teracopy?

Restarting your system a couple times didn't help?

I have corrected the imbalance in the Force.
Restarting your system a couple times didn't help?
Nope. Restarting in safe mode made a Update corrupted, deinstalling message popup. Then it would reboot 30 secs later and get stuck again.
I actually kinda like the slate menu part of Windows 8. It really isn't very functional for desktop computers, but it would be a good tablet OS and it's nice to have on my laptop.
[editline]17th September 2011[/editline]
still think Microsoft are going the wrong way with all of the "making everything flat with sharp edges and horrible colours" stuff though
I was just thinking about how the smallest things that happen years ago can still affect you now.
For example, my old shit PC stopped being able to connect to the internet. For a quick fix, I used my dad's laptop that had a broken screen (backlight refused to turn on) plugged into an external monitor. I tried some game demos with it to see the performance. Worked great compared to the PC before. (The PC before has the worst integrated graphics ever, which means it couldn't play stuff like KOTOR2)
The weirdest thing happened when I was playing CoD4. All of a sudden it turned off. And when it turned back on, the screen worked 100%.
Now I had a decent laptop that could play games. I downloaded Half Life 2 Deathmatch through the NVidia promo. Made me buy The Orange Box (best $20 spent ever.)
I played Team Fortress 2, which not only got me into online gaming, but made me stay in PC gaming.
Now I have a massive Steam collection, a bunch of awesome online friends and a better knowledge of computers.
Thanks, random Internet glitch. :buddy:

Pretty sure Windows update is going out of it's way to break my PC :v: I've been having hell installing Service Pack 1, and no matter what I try, it's just not taking it. Largely due to this clusterfuck I can't actually decipher (SFC results);

Apparently none of those files exist from my searching around the Windows folder. What in the fuck.
So I was on Facebook looking at someone's profile (v:v:v) and I saw a button. It had a checkmark and said "Subscribed". So I hovered over it to see if I'd get a tooltip. Got a menu instead, and saw this:

How the fuck does it tell what a "life event" is?
Who here has the mos harddrive space? Curious. I want to build a 9TB Raid 10 in my system, wondered if anyone has anything bigger.

facebook is trying way too hard to be bigger and badder than google+ by reinventing some of the features and innovations, but they're really just overcomplicating the system and pissing people off

I still don't understand what a hangout even is.
Or how to remove myself from them.
So, you guys remember that xbox 360 I found? Yeah, so time went by and nothing happened. I eventually just gave up on finding an adapter, but I still held onto the xbox itself.
Yesterday, I was throwing out some cardboard boxes in the dump an saw this box of disc covers. I discovered that the discs were mostly bootleg PS1 games. But then I noticed a thick, grey cable that reminded me of the power cable for an xbox 360. I thought "Nah, that can't be it" and started pulling in the cable. And what do you know, it is a fucking xbox 360 power brick. Now I was like "ok, but is it RIGHT power brick?" I looked at it and it said 203 watt, which is exactly what I needed. I was pretty happy about this, and was about to leave, but then I saw another grey cable in the box, and started pulling it as well. It was a component/composite video cable for the 360. AWESOME!
Now, the xbox is very old. In fact it's from 2006, but looking at the internals I could see it must have been repaired in 2008. It also has rusty spots inside the case, and even on some of the motherboard components! And that means it must have been in water at some point.
So that must be a dead xbox, right?
NOPE DOT FUCKING AVI!
As far as I can see, it works! At least I got no red rings yesterday when I tested it without a tv, I only got the four green glowing rings you get when you turn it on.
brb, gonnna hook it up to a tv and post results :woop:

Oh, and that plasma TV screen? That also came from the trash. (~6 months ago)
do you actually have controllers for it? :v:

also my verdict is that Metro Internet Explorer is absolutely horrible and I should feel horrible for using it on anything other than a tablet
