WTF? My friend moved his mobo to a new case and now it won't boot up. No fans start etc. Also tried old cases power buttons.
you dun broke it
you dun broke it
whaddayamean? Possibilities how did he break it?
Try taking it out of the case and booting it.
Did you use standoffs?
Did you use standoffs?
Afaik he did. I checked them too, saw them. I did not take the mobo out of the case, as for one thing, we do not have a Anti-Static paper or anything like that.
Double check the power connections? I forgot to plug in the extra power line for the cpu and I had the same problem.
Double check the power connections? I forgot to plug in the extra power line for the cpu and I had the same problem.
All were connected, CPU power and MoBo 20pin connector. It is older and does not have 20+4 afaik. Well. I am not at his house anymore.
what does anti-static bags have to do with this? were you planning on starting the computer with the motherboard on it?
IDK? I guess.
what does anti-static bags have to do with this? were you planning on starting the computer with the motherboard on it?
He probably means anti-static mats: I was only made aware of their existence last week in cisco netacad Unit 2, they look fucking useful and I might have to get myself one (but they look pretty expensive, ~£10)
10 pounds vs 50-100 pounds when you have to replace your mobo when your hair electrocutes it
10 pounds vs 50-100 pounds when you have to replace your mobo when your hair electrocutes it
...compared to £3 for a strap.
...compared to £3 for a strap.
Mats are like 14 times cooler than straps. So you're actually saving on the cool-factor.

Just realized that was the first time I've fixed my MBR with a Windows 7 disc. Haven't needed to do that before.

Looks like something I'd only buy if every time I touched a metal object I got zapped. Jeez just ground the case, and make sure you ground yourself frequently. Hell, lean on the case while working...

So I'm sad. I'm grounded again(don't ask) and I tricked my mom into taking my laptop battery and the part of the charger that goes into the wall. So I took my spare charger's part, plugged it into my real one, instant happy, [del]then realized my mouse won't work without a battery in the laptop.[/del] It works now that I've unpluged it seven times. :wtc:

Looks like i'll probably be sending back this monitor. I'm becoming obsessed with the input lag.
Looks like i'll probably be sending back this monitor. I'm becoming obsessed with the input lag.
That's basically the only reason that I don't think I'd ever buy one.
I may end up getting the HP ZR30W as it is based around low input lag. I have no need for 500 inputs or the scaler as everything I do it through a PC. [editline]25th September 2011[/editline] The ZR30W is actually cheaper than this Dell is with all the coupons.

Currently chatting with Dell online support. They asked me if I was on a laptop or desktop. Oh boy, they think it's my computer. [editline]25th September 2011[/editline] She told me, "What I can do for you is assist you in ordering a new monitor with higher specs." WAT U3011 is the highest one you got.
