Weird, I don't have any font problems.
Would ubuntu work good on this crappy PC I got for free? Not 100% sure about the specs because speccy wont work at windows 2000 But what I found ut was: CPU - x86 family 6 model 8 stepping 6 RAM - 391 600kB HDD - 10Gb i think
Family 6 is Pentium Pro-Pentium III. Model 8 narrows that down to either a Pentium III, Pentium-III-based Celeron, or Pentium III Xeon. I'd need to know how much cache it had and the clock rate to figure out the exact model.

Would ubuntu run better or worse then windows 2000 or is the computer just to old to do anything?
Sounds like a slot p3.. I wouldn't bother doing anything with that. google tells me it could be a mobile p3, is it a laptop? the "model name" you gave me just gives me information about a compaq cd-rom

It looks like this The name of it is "deskpro en"
It's tempting to use a switch, but my "orderguy" said something about they didn't like it (they being the persons who set the image thingies up) I don't think it's going to break anything, but I'd probably get in a lot of trouble if it did. Until I can find a solution, I can only install Windows on one computer at a time. And it takes FOREVER
Can you not just dump the image onto a few flash drives and set a few going at a time? [editline]27th September 2011[/editline] Or are you re-imaging them via the network?
Yeah, network boots [editline]27th September 2011[/editline] (That would be some pretty cool boots)
yeah I had one of these. just keep 2k on it.
Ok. Will see how the other computers are that I'm gonna get. I maybe just trow this out.

Speaking of small form factor computers...
Well, my 800Mhz AMD Duron ain't running windows 98se too badly, so keeping win2K might not be as much of a bad idea as it sounds.
And if driven hard can have a short life.
Taking all the parts and trying to pack them together is a bad idea. Don't defragment cars, guys.
got all the chavs in my IT class to play unreal tournament today, somehow they actually liked a game other than call of duty on an xbox now to work on their vocabulary, all 4 of them said a variation of "that was a sick game that lad, play again next lesson mate"
Wingless disqualifies as a player due to living in We-can't-afford-proper-Internet-stralia.
If I'm not playing then, I'm hosting. Your choice :v:

Fuck you guys go to awesome schools. We only have like two computer teachers. One is an old man, other a middle-aged woman. The man usually knocks people who can not understand shit with his finger and teaches stuff like HOW TO USE A MOUSE. HOW TO USE A KEYBOARD! But the woman is our teacher. She is a programming teacher at our school too. She teaches us using MSPaint atm. Stuff like copying, pasting etc. with keyboard shortcuts.
Speaking of small form factor computers...
May I steal your identity and replace you at work? Wish I had a job like that, the closest thing I got was a "system admin aka the ultimate janitor of everything" job. All I did was pack stuff and sometimes they told me to "fix that goddamn A/C/fax/phone". The network was actually just 3 computers hooked up to a server (It had Windows Home Server on it) through a switch. The worst part was, my office was just a closet full of unused CRT monitors and it housed the switch. Oh yeah, and I was told not to "touch anything on the big computer". Quit after a month. [editline]27th September 2011[/editline]
we're also all in college
Maybe Estonia's education system doesn't have anything that resembles a college? We don't.
Maybe Estonia's education system doesn't have anything that could resemble a college? We don't.
no universities? [editline]27th September 2011[/editline] man Hungary and Estonia are apparently weird
no universities?
Uh, if I am reading the Wikipedia article correctly, it says college is either an university or a "stop" between secondary school and university. Here, primary school is 8, secondary school is 6 years long, after we complete the matura, we can go to universities based on the score we got on the matura and the last 1.5 years' grades.
Maybe Estonia's education system doesn't have anything that resembles a college? We don't.
You don't? Whoa. Well, explains some of it. Yes we do have college and universities.
May I steal your identity and replace you at work?
I'm actually damn lucky I have this job. We know the computer department's boss and his family etc. It's good to have contacts.

And I'm probably the youngest employee of the entire company (15) :v:
