it's not like they're going to come bust into your house holding rifles though, is it? ISPs have to send a cease and desist order before they can start suing, if I remember correctly
Peerblock is a wonderful program... [editline]30th September 2011[/editline] Either that or tunnel your traffic through a VPN.
Battlelog is a good thing. If you want to check your friend's scores, you don't need to start up the game. It's also much easier to tweak a website compared to the game. However, there is one stupid thing that I encountered this morning: Which wasn't necessarily a bad thing in my case, since my password was crappy. So I changed it to something better.
How the fuck is Battlelog a good thing. It's tiniest fucking step below Always on DRM. Log in to Battlelog - Launch game - Internet goes out half way through game - Close game to go see if your friends want to play a game - Normally at this point you would then proceed to go back to Campaign. Oh no wait. Can't get to Battlelog can't get to fucking game. This will also eventually fuck the game in so ever many years later. Battlefield 2 you could still play if the servers got taken down. Now if the servers get taken down the game is useless, unless you're a pirate. The Server browser in Battlelog is fucking tripe. Half of the servers won't give you a ping, It does not refresh server details from hours ago. Launch Battlelog - Search for some servers, play for a bit. The server you were on had 17/32 players - Come back 2 hours later - Oh boy a server with 17/32 players. Click the server - updates the details with 32/32 fucking players. This happened to me today. Hell half the time the filters don't fucking work. Searching for just Operation Metro servers still gave me 3 Caspian Border servers. [editline]1st October 2011[/editline] And yes, if you wanted to check your friends scores. It is a good thing, that's why it should be like fucking Bungie.net and be a separate fucking service.

I don't see the servers getting taken down for a really long time, heck the BC1 servers are still alive and well. 3. Ping is disabled in beta 4. A lot of people are playing, servers fill up fast. 5. You forget how every other DICE made in-game server has been shit. At least this one "works" from the get-go unlike BC2's

Guess what I just switched to.

We ARE going to get fucked eventually in the future and not be able to play online. That's bad.
Only 11 servers with 5+ open slots, they don't have enough servers. Also no ping. Ok at I will agree that the renting server thing is dumb and that it would have been better if we had dedicated servers but I don't see BF3's going down any time soon. And with any luck by that time we will be at BF4 or whatever and devs have learned that things like mod tools and dedicated servers are important. Lastly for me at least BC2's server browser was horrible, slow as hell, sticky controls, and a terrible interface.

The thing was it wasn't refreshing old sever data.
sever data
Data about severing things?
Female ?
Nope. That's the point of a Beta.
You should be expecting and looking out for problems. That's the point of a Beta.
The quantity of these bugs shouldn't be allowed in an open beta.
Well, It's back online now apparantly
The quantity of these bugs shouldn't be allowed in an open beta.
So they should just take the beta down if they run into a bug?
The quantity of these bugs shouldn't be allowed in an open beta.
No, the Frostbite 2 engine is fucking massive, the more quantity to code the more chance of bugs. The Frostbite 2 engine has had most aspects entirely re-written. With Frostbite 1.5 You had the grounding of the original Frostbite engine there which still shared many aspects from Refractor. The Battlefield 3 release could not survive without this open beta.
The quantity of these bugs shouldn't be allowed in an open beta.
I can't even play at more than 10fps on low with no AA. Also my viewmodel keeps disappearing randomly along with people. I think that's my computer though, I've heard of nobody else with this. I KEEP GETTING KILLED BY AIR I CANNOT COMPREHEND THIS.
Sounds like your PC to me, Game runs surprisingly well for me
The joys of budget computing.

I KEEP GETTING KILLED BY AIR I CANNOT COMPREHEND THIS.
Yes, The thing I have noticed with Battlefield 3 compared to other games is the fact Multiplatform games usually just scoop hardware intensity to the level of the Consoles so it was pretty easy to run those games. Now my HD 4830 gets around 25 FPS on Medium 1440x900 (or so). Oh well, should get a GTX 580 soon.
and devs have learned that things like mod tools and dedicated servers are important.
Haha, no. The thing is : even if DICE had the time to develop a SDK for Frostbite (or at least mod tools), EA would just disapprove it. Most publishers couldn't give less of a fuck if their players are pleased, as long as they buy the damn game. People will still buy BF3/MW3 no matter how much bullshit there will be in it, and publishers still won't learn what the players want because the majority doesn't care about custom maps or weapons. Since the majority doesn't give a fuck, boycotting never works. That and people are never honest. Just look at the MW2 boycott group, most of them pre-ordered it (even the leader :v:)

And you won't be paying out of the arse for any SLI you want later.
The funny thing about BF3 is, it runs damn fine on my PC. I'm running with an HD5770. But I have a quad-core Phenom II at 3.2GHz. My friend with a 6950 2GB and some Core 2 Duo keeps getting crashes etc.

I got the AMD beta drivers and all my performance issues were fixed. I get 80fps average on the outside parts of Metro and 120fps when inside the subway. Caspian runs amazingly well to, 90fps average and only dips to 70fps when a shit ton of stuff is going on.

Besides, I want it to last longer than my HD 4830.
The result of my introduction to Photoshop lesson, colour in a line drawing, it didn't come out to bad I suppose.
