[QUOTE=leach139;32604728]I guarantee those macs will have Firmware passwords set. If they don't, I'm sure security won't take nicely to you having openfirmware on screen.[/QUOTE]
Single user mode looks like this:

Instant hacker in class.
And yea it would be really funny if mac stores didn't have firmware passwords set :v:

What did they use it for anyway ?

IDK, Had no time to read it. I just saw it for two seconds when going downstairs and I went outside.
Teachers presses restart on his mac, takes about 25 seconds for the desktop icons to disappear, now it's been on a desktop background and a rotating circle for the past 2 minutes :v:
He hasn't restarted it in about 5 months
5 months? holy shit that's actually pretty well done
I need to try that with my Amiga, just keep hitting the clear RAM button when it slows down :v:

Fucking Arriva, you know that £220 worth of bus tickets I bought on my phone?
Well a week ago it magicaly disapeared from my phone, they initialy gave me 4 day tickets to get me through the week, and they are still trying to push that ticket back to my phone now, I can see another 4 tickets being pushed in the meantime.
I really don't like how the app doesn't sync with my Google account, if this phone atomizes itself I have to call fucking customer support AGAIN!

Well there's your problem, you're buying long-term bus tickets using your phone
Guys, my pc boots fine (10 sec, Agility3 60gb) but when it actually is done booting desktop shows, everything is fine for about 5 seconds, then everything locks up and i only can move the mouse, which has turned into the blue rotating circle.

Oh wow, chkdsk /f is spitting out all sorts of errors. I've disabled everything that runs on boot with msconfig. Let's see what's going to happen now.
[editline]3rd October 2011[/editline]
Didn't fix anything :|

It appears explorer.exe (Is it still named like that in W7?) is crashing. After a few seconds windows comes up with a dialog named 'Microsoft Windows' saying 'The application has stopped responding. It might start working again if you wait for a while' and a End Process and Abort button
Does safe mode work?
Yup
[img]http://peecee.dk/uploads/102011/Capture1.PNG[/img]
Try that
Okay so the first errors i can find in Event viewer are:
The superfetch service was halted with the following error code:
The system can't find the file
And a minute later:
The ESET Service froze on starting (ESET Nod32 is my AV)
6 minutes later (After disabling all startup applications and doing a chkdisk /f) the same two errors appear.
[editline]3rd October 2011[/editline]
@Warship Isn't that the same as running chkdsk /f ?
Well, does chkdsk run before windows boots?
Yea it ran

Disabled all non microsoft services, rebooting to see what's going to happen.
[editline]3rd October 2011[/editline]
Welp, it's booting fine now. I have a feeling it's nod32 causing this again.
"Microsoft is the most populer word procsser" (actual speeling!)
-By the local Monobrow'd idiot in BTEC ICT.
[QUOTE=Warship;32605284]5 months? holy shit that's actually pretty well done[/QUOTE]
I've gone half a year
My mom's old desktop had went 2 years once but then the power cut out
Edit: I don't deserve these winners, there's probably people here who has me beat by a long shot
Enabling nod32 causes fuckups on boot again. At first desktop icons still work, but the superbar cant be clicked and shows the blue circle when hovering over it. Then desktop icons stop working too and all i can do is ctrl alt del -> task manager. Cpu is at 0% and ram at 15%
Never heard about anyone having problems with nod32, what kind of specs/software/OS do you have?
Try uninstalling NOD32, install a trial version of ESET Smart Security.

[QUOTE=VistaPOWA;32606749]Try uninstalling NOD32, install a trial version of ESET Smart Security.[/QUOTE]
I'll try that, but i still want to use my license for Nod32..
[QUOTE=leach139;32605847]Well there's your problem, you're buying long-term bus tickets using your phone[/QUOTE]
Is it so much to ask for a very simple application to do it's job?
I mean seriously? It's the 21'st centuary and the most basic piece of software FAILS.
[QUOTE=VistaPOWA;32606749]Try uninstalling NOD32, install a trial version of ESET Smart Security.[/QUOTE]
Computer locks up when installing that when the setup says 'Removing backup files..'
[editline]3rd October 2011[/editline]
Should i just reinstall windows 7?
[editline]3rd October 2011[/editline]
Oh wait, it unfroze now and Smart Security is running and no more freezing it appears. Going to restart now.
[editline]3rd October 2011[/editline]
It appears fine after rebooting, but i don't want to purchase a license for smart security when i already have one for nod32..
Trying to convince my dad to dosh out £40 for NOD32 Smart Security instead of £30 for McAfee (or worse, norton), has anyone got a handy-dandy list of reasons I can spill to him to convince him? He hated the living shit out of McAfee when he had it FYI, and I can't suggest MSE or similar free stuff as he works with some sensitive data + visits Saudi Arabia occasionally where supposedly as soon as he even connects to hotel WiFi mcafee goes fucking apeshit with attackers.
1) Norton and McAfee are just terrible. They are such resource hogs it's not even funny anymore, when idle they take up like 100mb and when scanning, dear god.
2) Nod32 is an amazing antivirus, it scans fast and when combined with malwarebytes and s&d you can't stop it.
3) Shelling up that much for McAfee or Norton would be like shelling out 40 pounds on a pile of shit.
4) And McAfee SHITS itself over compatibility, as does norton.
5) I also reccomend getting the [b]free[/b] commodo firewall 'tis a GREAT firewall.
Uhh. I can consider my father by saying him, Do you want viruses and spend 30£ or no viruses and 0£ (MSE, avast!, Comodo, whatever suits you the best)

For a few extra pounds, instead of NOD32, you can get Smart Security, which has a firewall too.
My Business teacher finally got back to me.

Uh-oh.
Also, I'm home sick.

My dad just wants something that hums along in the background and only flips shit if something is up, not "oh hey IE is trying to talk to the internet, wanna allow it?" - hence the SmartSecurity suggestion.
