The expensive insurance on a friends laptop was about to run out, so we did this: And if his plan works, he'll have a new PC soon :v:
All I could do while watching that was to scream "NOOOOOOOO" for about 5 minutes while it looped. My parents had to come in and turn it off before I could comprehend living again.
Hole card computing
Is punch card what you mean?
Relax, It's an HP, it was gonna kill itself sooner or later
Not all HPs suck :colbert:
So, my mother finally cleaned up her old laptop and I suggested using Linux because she won't have to deal with bloatware and windows' weaknesses in general. She thinks it's a good idea and it's down to choosing distro. I'm thinking Ubuntu for ultimate user friendliness. Any better, less well known alternatives? Mint is not out either.
Linux Mint. The simplicity of Ubuntu without that god-awful Unity interface. Though, if it's a fairly old laptop, you may need something lighter, such as Xubuntu or Lubuntu.
Pepper;32641082']Not all HPs suck :colbert:
Exactly, that's why they have heat problems
Exactly, that's why they have heat problems
oh you.jpg but seriously though, my 6730s is lovely.
Their business grade laptops seem to be better, yeah.
Pepper;32641082']Not all HPs suck :colbert:
Only 1/4th after four years. Also probably going with Ubuntu, as although unity is godawful for regular linux people, on its own, with a totally inexperienced user, it's pretty solid.
Their business grade laptops seem to be better, yeah.
Agreed. Judging by the cosmetic condition of my £100 eBay HP Laptop (Yeah, eBay, I know), I doubt a normal consumer laptop would survive whatever the previous owner did to it...
I'm thinking of saving up for a Vaio E series laptop. I tried configuring one on their site and it really wasn't that expensive.
Two friends talking, one asks a good minecraft server host, the other says "Theres always offers for free webhosting online, you could probly find a way to host your server off that I'm sure" Because webserver = vps
I know I should probably get an Asus or something instead, but there's just something about Sony's design I really like, I just think they look really nice :saddowns: How are sony's laptops in general? Anyone got any experience with them?
Just saw this comment on a YouTube video
Fandroids are laughing now,* but they will cry starting October 7th. Then they'll go back to their same lame sheep arguments. ;)
What video was it on? I'm crying in my sleep because of this.
:smug:
Why the fuck are you suing Linux Mint on a server, hell why would you use a GUI on a server?
Because it's a backup computer too.

Just finally setup the return for this monitor. Monday night: 2 hours of shifting to 25+ departments and ended up getting dropped. Tonight: 5 minutes of calling to Home Office and got a return, no transfers, no fuss. They are covering restocking fee and all that jazz.
