Worse.
wow I thought they went out of business, like, 4-5 years ago [editline]6th October 2011[/editline] at least it isn't as bad as my cousin, he's on the highest Pipex package and gets 6mbit down / 0.2 up even though he's only minutes away from the exchange
All I have to say is Rogers. Canada Internet is bad Internet.
So, i've visited a Mac training today (From official Apple guys), not that i need one myself, it's to see if they are any use for new students etc. Turns out all they teach you is close button is on the other side, and some trackpad gestures.
My dorm has generic business internet and while I should be getting 5MB/s the geniuses in the management office thought it would be a great idea to use a controller from the early 90s that throttles the internet down to 300kb/s so everyone gets a "fair" connection 24/7.

I got on the Staff WiFi at School today, any body want to guess what the password was? [sp]it was hopeacademy123 (the school is called hope academy)[/sp] you would think the Staff network full of all kinds of documents would be a bit more secure, if you want to get on the staff network drives you can just get on with your own student username and password

Almost tradition to get the teacher wifi pass in my school. Especially now when the normal student net is throtteled by a (for now) unsolved bottleneck Seriously, Last week during a bad part, I got 70 % packet loss on the student and 60 on the teacher and loading google took probably a few minutes (if all)
We put the apple homepage with the photo of jobbo on a screen in computing as a mark of respect. Even if you hate apple, you can't deny he changed the world
Apparently, I'm downloading a piece of a torrent file through IPv6. My router doesn't even support IPv6, and there is no machine in my house running that torrent client. And no, it's nothing illegal you little suspicious fools, just downloading some WPA tables
Finally found a way to work with animated images. I found three programs that I actually all need. 1. I start of by using Avidemux since VirtualDub is a bitch. With some pain I find the start and end frames of what I want, then I save it as a sequence of JPG images; 2. One is a program that can combine images (any image, not just PNGs, thank god for that) which works quite nice; 3. Then an animated PNG/GIF plugin for Paint.NET, which let's me crop it and resize it. (Of course, if I have to add a border, I have to do it for each frame separately.); 4. Then I run it through an APNG optimizer to greatly reduce the filesize. I can't use more than, say, 10 frames, otherwise I can't upload it to Facepunch because the file is too large. And if I save it as animated GIF, it still looks like shit (though at least it took much less effort) :v:
I'm really frustrated at Firefox Sync at the moment. Out of nowhere some "Unknown error" pops out and the way to solve it is to delete reset my sync data or whatever. I can access the web interface for my sync account, but nothing there works: "Looks like one of our dinosaurs has escaped again." WTF? Well anyways, now that I'm trying to set up a new sync key I can't get one: "Verifying" forever. And also no UI buttons work when that happens. There's absolutely nothing I can possibly do. As a programmer I can't understand how is such state in software even possible.
Worse.
Oh no, they are owned by Talk Talk now, I used to have them, utterly shit support and the speeds I got with them were shocking.
All I have to say is Rogers. Canada Internet is bad Internet.
Your mileage may vary. I have Eastlink and it's decent (20/1 Mbps unlimited), though the DSL re-sellers like Teksavvy don't look that bad.
Managed to solve my problem using a workaround. I just made a new Firefox Sync account. I could use the email the last one was registered to(all reset mails were sent to that), but I didn't want to use that, because I use gmail now, but it didn't accept my gmail address so I just did a trick: my.name+sync@gmail.com and it accepted my gmail address. Thanks gmail for this wonderful feature.

did the Facepunch for Android app ever get released? I'd quite like to get on here without having to load pages incredibly slowly and waste my 500mb (lol) data allowance loading pictures of that cat

I'm just curious, what sorts of extra-curricular or out-of-school clubs having to do with technology does everyone participate in? (Technology club, Tech Crew Club, Digital Media Club, anything like that) I've whined enough about mine, I'm just curious to see what everyone else is taking part in.
