I have Smoothwall up and running now.
The config was way easier than I thought, all you had to do was pick what card is what interface, give IP settings for WAN and set the DHCP range for local network etc.
The computer just made fart noises, wtc

Oh, it was just the floppy drive
when computers get old they begin to lose control of bodily functions please don't make fun of them it's very embarrassing
Well that made me feel a lot better about doing this sort of thing as a hobby. I enjoy math so I assume that's a pro if you're fairly adept at that sort of thing?
It's a pro, yeah. Just experiment with it! Nothing you can lose, really.
Woo, my longer IDE cable arrived, now I have an internal ZIP 250 drive working.
Floppies are too mainstream.

Now to find a Jaz drive with 1GB disks...
Take HDDs and more ram out of the other PCs you got and set up a server.
Real-time bandwidth monitoring by protocol gives me a massive boner.
I already have a server
I need to set up my WRT54GL so it serves as an access point.
Fairly sure I can just flash DD-WRT and do it with that, getting sick of Tomato anyways.
And virtual wireless networks are always a great way to insult your neighbors.
Finaly, I found a local TV repairman, I can get my Phillips-CM8833 monitor fixed for my Amiga.
My crappy portable TV has tinged everything green and it has no colour balance.

Looking forward to playing Myth properly on my C64 again.

How many should I take? v:v:v
They're all P4 2.4GHz with XP installed. The four to the right all have 1GB of ram (holy shit that's some high tech shit rite there), around 3 or 4 have 768, and the rest has 512MB.
A free computer is still a computer, make some sort of file-storage system or something with them.

Sounds like something out of Portal 2's soundtrack :v:

This is the best thread I've seen in a long time, I was laughing out loud for a good minute or so.
Ha ha, Dai gave his location, this is gold. I wonder if OP is burning down his house?
Installed Engarde Secure Linux in a VM.
Trying to access the WebTool it ships with.
Chrome, nope.
Firefox, nope.
Fuck it, I'll try IE. Works. What the fuck
Ok you get a 16GB tablet with a SD card slot for $500 but you want it to be 64GB or more. You got to spend a good $200 to get one that is also fast. Oh you only have microSD? Well good luck finding one for a good price, better off just buying a 64GB tablet in the first place.
Oh and I would like to point out that the Samsung Galaxy 10.1 also lacks a SD slot
stop trying to justify your purchase of an iPad
So here's the one PC I brought home, happily working after almost being thrown out.
I'm thinking I'm just gonna get as many as I can, I don't want them to be thrown out when they work.
I don't see a single downside to getting all the computers that would otherwise be thrown out. In the least, it's free RAM or parts.

He's back...
I just put an FX5200 in it, I had to take the bracket off and leave it without because the slot is low profile. Let's do this shit.

I remember playing The Orange Box with an FX5200, 512 MB RAM and a 2.8 GHz P4. It ran, though I had to watch cutscenes on Youtube since they would run 1 frame every 5 seconds.
It also seems that my school blocked my home server's DynDNS address for being a web proxy, which is true. It can't take much longer than a few minutes to go back and change the DynDNS address and then the CNAME for my actual domain name, though I could always use my smartphone's internet connection if I really need to access something that's blocked.
Something's not right about this one, but I can't quite put my finger on it...

Breaking the laws of the Internet. One episode at a time.
It struck me that you could take all the hard drives and put them in RAID 0 and treat them as volatile RAM.
:v:
They didn't use a GUI interface track the IP, they're doing it wrong
