Don't you just love it when they use macs in almost every show like this
And when they put some dumb sticker over the logo
at a certain point I'm just convinced that the writers just have some sort of competition going to see who can pull the most bullshit on air
They actually do. There was an AMA from a writer for CSI and they said the writers do this specifically to get the 'nerds' and IT guys angry. Builds sort of.. negative audience that talk about the show.

Looking to get a SSD, is this one any good?
Also, my Seagate 500gb was clicking a little while ago but completely stopped. Should I be worried?

also seagates click all the time

Make sure it's not simply defragging, I thought my HDD was breaking because it kept clicking, but defraggler was just running.
Then what SSD should I be looking at? I have like $180 to burn from that whole 6870 incident a few weeks back.

Shit, this just got really weird. Best thread 2011.

I would say get this

It's really stable and really fast
Call me illeterate, but what is the difference between a SSD and a regular hard drive, aside from movement?
Call me illeterate, but what is the difference between a SSD and a regular hard drive, aside from movement?
Speed.

SSD's are electronic so the access times are close to nothing so you get faster read and writes
SSD's are electronic so the access times are close to nothing so you get faster read and writes
Thanks. Would that also mean that SSDs would be less susceptible to shakes and general movement?
Thanks. Would that also mean that SSDs would be less susceptible to shakes and general movement?
yeah, SSD's don't have issues with that. you can throw one against a wall and it would probably be fine. any abuse your flash drive can handle, an SSD can handle
Fuck it, I had an epiphany. I don't need a GTX 580, gonna get a HD 6870 instead. Ordering today.
Fuck it, I had an epiphany. I don't need a GTX 580, gonna get a HD 6870 instead. Ordering today.
Why
Why
Because I didn't need a 580 and the 6870 is shit tons cheaper.
[editline]8th October 2011[/editline]
+ with the 580 my RAM and CPU would bottleneck it.
Because I didn't need a 580 and the 6870 is shit tons cheaper.
I was kidding but yea everyone seems to be picking up a 6870 then buying another one for crossfire later.
I was kidding but yea everyone seems to be picking up a 6870 then buying another one for crossfire later.
Yeah, I'd need a new motherboard for that. I might do it later, though.
I'd never spend over $300 for a graphics card anyway, I'd rather buy a midrange card and be able to swap them out more often.
My 8800gt I got for $80 discount not to long after release has been spoiling me. $150 well spent.
When I'm at school and I help people with their Visual Basic or little batch files, I feel like a technology master. But when I look at this thread and see people chatting casually about their "580s" and "6870s", or "Bulldozers" vs. whatever, I feel insignificant and like a "computer illiterate person who thinks they know things".
To Google!
I was kidding but yea everyone seems to be picking up a 6870 then buying another one for crossfire later.
That's what I did. Don't regret it at all.
Guys I have a Mysql problem.
Input:
SELECT keuze.keuzenm, COUNT(stem.keuze) FROM keuze, stem WHERE keuze.keuze=stem.keuze GROUP BY stem.keuze
Output:

Now, I want the COUNT(stem.keuze) to order descending, would anyone happen to know how to do this?
I just put an FX5200 in it, I had to take the bracket off and leave it without because the slot is low profile. Let's do this shit.

Dat CPU and PF usage. Fuck Notch.
OptiFine/OptiMine can help with that :v:
Oh man, this day was epic. Worked from 9-5, then rushed over to school to get ready for the LAN party. So much went on that I'll just give you the highlight reel:
* You know how no web project is complete until you find something that breaks in IE and fix it? Apparently IE doesn't handle <META HTTP-EQUIV="Refresh"> redirects well, and gets stuck in an infinite loop. I had to add an extra <body onload="window.location=$url"> in there to work around it. So now I can rest easy, knowing I've tested it under four different browsers on two different operating system families.
* Also, the work Macs have Garage Band. I've got a couple songs I made back in high school that I only have as MP3 or Garage Band files. I've been looking for a while for a Mac to use so I can copy the sheet music off it so I can actually play it again. Glad I can finally do that. It'll take a while to re-write them as MIDI, but it'll be worth it.
* I think this sets a new record. Tying to get my laptop wired into the LAN for the LAN party. Can't seem to connect. We go through a total of three switches and five cables before finally getting it to work. Including making several from scratch.
* You remember fat vampire faggot? Yeah. He was there. He was supposed to just be the audio guy, but the DJ never showed up. So he blasted "NOW" volumes 17-19 at us the whole time.
* Also, his audio rig SUCKS. The bass was always either massively loud and distorted, or off. It made every CD skip. And it had the audio clarity of a yodeler in a cave.
* Seriously, it made everything sound like it was being played by a very bad Rock Band player - half the notes were missing.
* Choice quote from FatVampireFaggot: "Samus is such a Mega-Man ripoff". I swear, the police would have forgiven me had I ripped him limb from limb right there.
* I participated in the Smash Bros tournament. Got beaten in the first round. Apparently "no items, final destination" isn't actually just a joke. Who knew?
* Trying to play UT99's Assault gamemode with two people sucks. Especially when one doesn't know what to do.
* Characters I saw in Tekken 6: Vampire Hitler, Japanese robot schoolgirl, girl with tits, girl with bigger tits, MC Hammer, and a goddamn kangaroo.
* DM-Fractal. Designed for 2-4 players. Small, tight, no cover, and loaded with rocket launchers and shock rifles. With 6 people, it's sheer madness.
* Overall, the LAN party was dissappointing, but fun. We had enough stuff for 40-50 people - three different LANs, plus two consoles. Maybe 15 showed up, most of whom were part of the clubs setting it up. So we probably lost money, but it was still pretty fun.

My audio rig at my LAN party was my PS3 running on my lounge room's surround system streaming music from my server.

Heh, you wanted to get the 580 to have a more powerful card than my 570 :v:
I'm still doing 570 SLI soon though
