Is the Asus eee pc worth grabbing, there are a few on ebay still on 99p starting bid and I feel like having a poke. Just for a little Linux dev machine.
If you can get it for cheap, sure, go for it. It's quite handy a device and I think the battery is ok as well. [editline]14th October 2011[/editline]
I'll grab one when I'm not £120 in debt any more. SSH connection to my server and sublime text will make it perfectly usable. Also, what is the absolute best lightweight browser that still has a nice UI?
I've heard some people praise Luakit as a nice lightweight one
I had to diagnose a computer at work. It randomly rebooted once in a while, and would sometimes even BSoD on boot.
I'm sure you need to replace the hard drive
You're witty and original Why the fuck did someone even create a fucking symbol for sarcasm. Sounds like a really useful invention
I'm sure you need to replace the hard drive
Nah, it's clearly his floppy drive.
Nah, it's clearly his floppy drive.
What are you talking about, it's obviously his northbridge.
Sarcasm is so passive-aggressive anyway
Nah, it's clearly his floppy drive.
Nah, Probably his tape robot
Stole this from reddit. Guy's on a plane, the media things on the seats were rebooted as a part of a system's reboot. [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/lt00Y.jpg[/thumb] It's cool they're using Linux and all, but am I the only one that can see the problem?
I wonder if you can crash a plane with root privileges :v:
I wonder if you can crash a plane with root privileges :v:
I should hope the entertainment system is independent.
http://www.facepunch.com/threads/1132381 Now gman can store his porn collection!
18TB? Dude, I fit my porn collection on a 20GB hard drive, with room left over for a DOS partition full of abandonware and old games, a BSD test server, and a couple dozen SNES roms. (I've since moved it to a 120GB drive, but I haven't really grown it by much lately, it's still well under 20GB.) Now, fitting all my GMod and Oblivion addons... that would take a good chunk of those 18 terabytes.
fify Don't blanket statement the whole fanbase just because you didn't like a beta. I have friends that put in thousands of hours into BF2 that had a bast in the beta. Mind you this was after they tried out Cpasain Border but that is more DICE's fault for only putting it in rotation for the first 3 and last 3 days. Grouping people in like that is biased and is no better then calling people fanboys.
Yeah, that was pretty dumb. I was tired as fuck last night, sorry 'bout that.
So in my school we're required to do 10 hours of community service as seniors and two random community service things for health class. A group of my friends had the most genius idea. Play video games for 24 hours to raise money for Children's Hospitals. http://www.extra-life.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=donorDrive.team&eventID=501&teamID=7581 We've already passed the group goal but each member needs to have atleast $24 dollars in contributions. I'm going to apologize now to anyone that has me on facebook but I'll be posting this all day tomorrow. And if anyone wants to, feel free to support the kids in hospitals and help us graduate from high school and donate a buck or a few to anyone that hasn't reached atleast $24 bucks in contributions, and if everyone has maxed it and you still want to donate, donate to anyone basically. I'm about to go to bed since I have to get up in 11 hours and then game for 24...

I'm moving. And when we called Frontier (our ISP/phone company), they said that the stuff for the FiOS is there, just unmaintained. Or at least I think that's what they said - I only heard it secondhand and even then not clearly. So I'll reliant on school Internet for a week. Things I'll miss: - Facepunch - The Steam Community - The ability to update my computers Things I won't miss: - XKCD (not blocked at school, hooray!) - Spotify (also not blocked at school (yet), hooray!) - Social interaction (durr) - Vidya gaymen (offline mode on Steam yay)

Welp, my 8800gt finally died. I REALLY don't feel like sinking another hundred bucks right now when I'm so close to getting a new comp... not my screen

now I have a reason to try the oven trick
Well shit. I, having finally become completely bored of my current batch of games, decided to go through my massive Steam library of games I haven't even touched yet. I spotted FEAR, and figured "hey, mindless slow-mo shooting with a thin veneer of horror sounds fun". Either something's wrong, or that game's programmed so shittily that it make Minecraft look good. Seriously, I know a Core 2 Duo and a GeForce 9600 isn't much, but it should be enough to run a six-year-old game, right? I mean, I can run Crysis at medium, and can max out any Source game at my resolution, so a game from 2005 ought to be a piece of cake, right? NOPE 800x600 resolution No AA No Aniso No decals No reflections No volumetric lights No shell casings Minimum details Minimum texture resolution And... nine frames per second. With settings that literally make the FIRST Half-Life look good. Fuck Crysis, we should be asking "can it run FEAR?"
Just requested my copy of Version Control by Example. and gman, it might not recognize the 9600, so it goes to mega low settings.
Just requested my copy of Version Control by Example. and gman, it might not recognize the 9600, so it goes to mega low settings.
No, it defaulted to medium-high settings. And ran even worse. Getting it to 9FPS was an improvement.
There's simply something wrong, back when Fear was released a 9600 was an awesome card to have, I remember wanting one.
Version control? New books? Bah! 1950s steam engineering books is where it's at
There's simply something wrong, back when Fear was released a 9600 was an awesome card to have, I remember wanting one.
I remember suggesting the 9600GSO for all sorts of budget builds back in late 2008, that was an amazing card for the price.
