I wanted to burn cd with ubuntu on it so I could save some files from a laptop (windows won't launch). So I download the ubuntu iso and I start up ImgBurn. I select the iso I want to burn and imgburn tells me the iso is too big for a cd. I thought "Alright, I don't really know anything about ubuntu, it's obviously a bigger os than I thought" so I put in an empty dvd and burn it. It finishes burning and I try booting from the dvd on the laptop. Then it suddenly says "Windows is loading the files". I think something is wrong so I restart the laptop and try again. It says the same again, and after its done loading, it gives me a screen where I can install Windows 7. It took me a few minutes to figure out I had accidentally burned windows 7 and not ubuntu on to a dvd. [sub](to be clear, windows got pre-installed on my machine but I never got a windows 7 dvd, so I have a windows iso when I want to format)[/sub]
Lucky bastard, mine is 2.9
Mine is 7.5 (Everything is 7.9 but my 2500k only scores 7.5) Also, TURK TELKOM STOP REPLACING MY 404 SCREENS I'm 5m away (outside) from the wifi acces point, and i get only 1 bar :wtc: Also someone needs to teach these guys how wifi works: They have Limra_Wifi_A - Limra_Wifi_Z And Limra_Wifi_1 - Limbra_Wifi_24 And some others in the cinema and lobby. WTF. Also the upload speed is 10 times the download speed. I was going to attempt to start preloading bf3 on my laptop (It is already on my pc, but i won't be home until sunday) but the connection times out every 5 minutes. Guess i'll just have to wait :C
I have a networking question: I happen to have a router (runs dd-wrt) with 2 computers connected to it, both run W7. My goal is to be able to Telnet (SSH doesn't like my password) into the router from my android phone, start up my computer using wol/etherwake, connect to my computer using ssh/telnet, and start a program. The problem is, my computer has a password. How could I connect and login into my computer using SSH or Telnet? Here's an image I just drew: [editline]23rd October 2011[/editline] I have managed to get SSH working on the router.
For WOL there should be some kind of command to do WOL (http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/WOL is a good guide). For connecting to the computer there are 2 possible ways: 1. Forward ports so that one port goes to router and another to the computer. 2. From the router ssh ssh into the computer itself. Might not be the brightest idea, but should work too. ssh in ssh
That still doesn't solve the login problem.
You need some kind of ssh/telnet server for W7? Telnet server should be turnable on in Control panel. There aren't good ssh servers for windows, but you can run openssh through cygwin somehow as a Windows service. I've tried it and it worked, but it could be easier when there would be native ssh servers.
Installed FreeSSHd as a Windows service, does that mean it gets started before login, thus I can connect to it?
Installed FreeSSHd as a Windows service, does that mean it gets started before login, thus I can connect to it?
Windows services run even when no windows user is logged on, so it should.
Whats the difference between Single and dual channel ram? I have 4 slots, only 1 of them is used with a 2GB stick of DDR2 single channel ram. I want to buy more but I don't know if the channel type will effect it.
Whats the difference between Single and dual channel ram? I have 4 slots, only 1 of them is used with a 2GB stick of DDR2 single channel ram. I want to buy more but I don't know if the channel type will effect it.
The RAM itself isn't dual-channel or single-channel. It's all in how the memory controller works. Basically, each "channel" can be accessed simultaneously. So with a dual-channel setup, it can read from both at once. If both sticks of RAM were on the same channel, though, it could only read from one at a time. It actually doesn't affect performance much - 5% or so by most studies. Still, it's sort of a good idea to have the two sticks on different channels, since it can't hurt any.
I broke something. :tinfoil: [t]http://filesmelt.com/dl/borke.png[/t] I already fixed it, but it's still funny.
